I think Baptiste and Flanagan are special enough to be contenders for our first team in two years time definately

We don't exactly have a good recent record with bringing on youngsters from the academy and in an article I read last week detailing the number of players in each squad that had come through their academy we came near the bottom.

It doesn't help when one of our brighter ex academy players is good enough to get to the semi finals of the Euros but can't get a sniff in our team and Pardew hinted last week that he probably never will.

In the last three seasons, we haven't. Of course Watson, Routledge, Clyne, Zaha, Moses, Williams are all players who have a history of coming through the ranks at Palace and have been given a chance.

The pattern of developing young players has changed now we are in EPL mostly due to financial pressures. Youngsters are now loaned to lower league teams to develop before getting first team opportunities. We have a few out on loan who look like they may make it ie Kaikai and Anderson. Others like Jake Gray have been transferred with a hefty sell on clause as they will not get enough first team game time here. This is not new Most of EPL clubs have been doing it Beckham spent time at Preston, Defoe at Bournemouth, Kane Millwall etc.

Looks like we have three special talents coming through in Baptiste, Kian Flanagan and the boy with the Messi tricks called Jordan Norman-Williams

Not wholly relevant to the post but...

I was at Wembley last Saturday for the Malta game and a group of young lads sat in front of me with 'England' on the back of their track suits. Turned out they were representing England Under 12's in the final of the Danone Nations Cup in Paris this coming weekend.

Anyway, the two lads in front of me said they played for Chelsea and Palace but the Chelsea one said he supported Palace.

The Premier League legacy has begun........

Don't forget Luke Croll at Exeter has been in the team of the week twice and is getting rave reviews as a class act. I have high hopes that he is toughening in that league but maintaining premier league class.

Was error prone when thrown in the deep end at plymouth but the management rates him so hopefully he can make it
