It used to be because Parish thought he could get the players at a cheaper price but now I think it's more waiting for all of the pieces of a large jigsaw to fall into place.

This year we have done far more of our business earlier in the window than ever before but we will never know how many players we have been in for but have lost out to other clubs as Parish won't tell us.

We all know (and have done for months) that we are desperate for a creative midfield player and although there have been rumours of our interest in suitable players they have all been snapped up elsewhere and we aren't just losing out to bigger clubs as Watford signed Roberto Pereyra who by all accounts would have been ideal for us and who incidentally scored within minutes of coming onto the pitch on Saturday.

The next 36 hours are going to be very interesting

Because it's Sky's money being spent & their Deadline Day programming would be worthless if nowt was happening?

Am I right in thinking we didn't make any deadline signings last year?

I really hope we just go for players we've targeted, not someone who suddenly becomes available on the last day. Slightly concerned that it's got to this stage and we're still probably 2/3 players away from where we'd like to be with our squad. One hopes that the Remy deal is almost done and we get one of Rincon or McCarthy, Lucas Lima or another attacking midfielder would be a bonus for me.

If you think that we've got it bad not knowing what's going on how do you think the players feel as every time we're linked with a new player one of the existing team will be thinking that his place in the side is disappearing.

All this talk of bringing in Wilshere, Rincon and Lima must be hugely unsettling for our current crop of midfielders
