Did you read my post, if so you missed the word "transferable" and as he's played on a permanent basis in the EU since 2009, that's 7 years he has the right of residence in the EU, under EU law after 7 years residence you have the right to permanant residence.

And what are you on about "Schengen Countries" the UK is and has never been part of Schengen, and a Shengen visa is for visitors not for working visitors so is not applicable.

As a non EU citizen he has to have a residence permit and a work permit, and under EU law both of those are baring criminal or other adverse circumstances are transferable, it's the same as Souaré last year and Speroni 12 years ago, and Bolasie who may have been born in France but he has a DR Congo passport and Adebayor who has a Togo passport.

The only time a club has a problem is if the paperwork is not correctly filled in.

As I have said on more than one occasion to you, having residency in an EU country does not give you the right to work in the UK (if you are non-EU)EU permits are NOT TRANSFERABLE to the UK. How do I know?...many years working for Immigration Service/Border Force. He of course may have qualification for a Spanish passport (before any one says but he is Venezuelan...Gus Poyet played for Chile but has an Italian passport.

Thanks for the info Nick.

You're welcome. It was only one game mind and the whole Venezuelan team looked poor.

The game was live here in the US. I watched out of curiosity and was not that impressed. He looked busy and his passing was better than Jedi's, but the latter could be said of most players. That being said, Venezuela were poor and Colombia easily could have won by 4-5 goals (they missed two penalties).

Colombia have always been the stronger footballing nation. Most Venezuelans would favour Baseball over Football......

Correct. I also employ people in Europe and without a European passport you would need a work permit in each country to work there.

mods - can you maybe set up a separate thread to deal with the seemingly endless debate about the generic issue of residency and work permits. It clutters threads such as this.

Bilko loves an arguement! I remeber having one with him few years ago about mortiz being offered a new contract but turning it down, apparently i was wrong despite having a fair few articles suggesting otherwise.

Anxious not to offend vrabbit who volunteered great info about Rincon. (And please chip in again, vrabbit, if youve any more news on the guy or insights about the Venezualan national side). Would it be fair to say that the S American WC qualifying group is significantly tougher than any other?

SSN JUST REPORTED:
RINCON STILL ON PALACE RADAR

Genoa utility man Tomas Rincon remains a target for Crystal Palace in January, according to calciomercato.it.

The Eagles saw their attempts to sign the 28–year-old for €7m (£m) this summer rejected by the Serie A club, who are understood to have wanted €10m (£m).

The report claims Palace remain interested in bringing Rincon - who can play across midfielder and in full-back positions - to Selhurt Park once the transfer window re-opens.

However, Alan Pardew’s side are to set face competition for Rincon’s signature, with Inter Milan and AC Milan keen to keep the Venezuela international in Italy.
