Disappointed that we didn't replace Bolasie, didn't replace Jedi and no creative mid-fielder. I think the net spend is £7m which is quite modest. Clearly we couldn't find anyone good enough. But concerned we won't be able to supply the forwards and we'll be vulnerable to injuries.

My only gripe is that we clearly needed to add creativity and we haven't. I hope the others step up...and I've no doubt having better players up top will help this. He was quality at Bolton, and I never understood why he got shoved below Mutch of all people. Would liked a midfielder to be honest... oh well, can we really complain about getting Remy and Benteke? Still very worried about the season ahead.

Yes we have improved our strike force emencely, great business done up top but we have weakened our midfield substantially and not found replacements. No creativity which is clearly one of the key issues. Not enough service. Very vulnerable to injuries. That rincon bloke looked class and a good replacement for jedinak but sadly didn't manage to capture him. I think we've done good business, but shouldn't have sold without replacements

A terrible mistake not to sign two midfielders. With McArthur and Cabaye injured and Ledley unfit, we have no midfield. Lee is reasonable on the ball and Puncheon looked back to some kind of form for 20 minutes of the 2nd half against Bournemouth, but they are too lightweight. The signings of Townsend, Benteke and Remy are great, but how are they going to get the ball? Souare is also the only decent crosser in the team, so we can look forward to more of Pardew's preferred long hoofs and for teams to dominate the play.
