In bygone days (When i was young !) there were certain places that were, lets say, less than salubrious. I am thinking of Brixton ,Herne Hill, Shoreditch to name a few. My daughter who is 27 says these are now considered trendy and "Up and coming" and she has no qualms going to them for a social occasion.

I'm 45 now, and even in my late teens early 20s Brixton and Shoreditch were pretty 'trendy' and on a par with Camden as a place to go out.

Consett.

The main street was pedestrianised some years ago. It should never have happened.

It really did need lorries and buses plying their routes belching out noxious fumes - if only to isolate pedestrians on one pavement from the other.

If ever there was a place that reflected the townsfolk, Consett is it.

Co Durham?

My mate just moved there.

Part Time James and Willo; come down to Woodside Road and say that!
Seriously though, there has been much improvement at Worthing FC recently, on and off the pitch.
Not sure if you are aware that the club has been owned for the past couple of years by George Dowell, a very pleasant and unassuming 22 year old, who at 16 was on the verge of the Worthing first team when he was involved in an horrific car crash.
This left the poor lad paralysed from the chest down. Following a long rehabilitation he decided to invest some of his compensation in his local club.
Woodside Road now boasts a 3G pitch, totally refurbished bar (open normal pub hours every day), an outside bar, much improved food offering and recently refurbished main stand.
George doesn't frequent the Directors box, he mingles with fans (usually 500/600 gates) and watches pitchside in his wheelchair.
On the pitch, The Rebels achieved promotion last season and also reached the Sussex Senior cup final.
I understand you wouldn't PTJ due to your allegiance elsewhere, but you should give it a try Willo, I always enjoy my match day experience at Worthing.

Hello mate, are you the same Worthing fan that I chatted to before on here or are there a couple? I'm sure you'll appreciate that I know not all supporters of a club are as bad as each other.

I actually read about George somewhere, perhaps it was somebody posting a link on here. The story definitely rings a bell.

Hi PTJ, no wasn't me. I believe there are a number of Palace who go to watch Worthing.
Let me know if you're coming down for the BHT game - April I think, and I'll introduce you to the joys of Worthing, including the Brooksteed Ale House, near the Station and 5 min walk to the ground.

Am I going to get my head stuck down a toilet for what I have said on here?

I tend not to go to away games anyway, but I won't rule it out.
