The guy can't play this role anymore - he wants to drop deep, often leaving Jimmy Mac to try and support the strikers, which is not his best position.

we tried it again in the cup final and he was the worst player on the pitch.

Cabeye on paper was a great signing but other than a few nice touches he's not doing enough for me.

Not saying I wouldn't play him, just not as a No10

To be fair to him, I don't think he ever did very often, his best position has always seemed to be more deep lying and I didn't expect that to change when he joined us.

The squad is made up of 25 players that the manager feels are the best 25 players he has on his books. He'll believe that they are the 25 players most capable of playing for the first team in the Premier League. So no, losing any one of them is not a good thing. Otherwise we'd have a 24 man squad.

I bow to your tactical genius, as I have no idea how well we preform with Remy in the team.

If Remy being injured means stopping AP playing a 442 and reverting to 1 striker, then it is a blessing. We might get a team for 90 minutes this time. In our case 'less is more'. We need one great striker, either Benteke or Wickham (who contrary to what some think is actually a great striker and I'm betting he'll go close to outperforming Benteke), because we need more success in the midfield, and playing one up front is what we're currently good at - not playing 442 - not yet. We need points. We can't keep stuffing up a 442 for half a match for half the season before we start getting it right. Having Benteke up front scaring the cr@p out of them is much better, especially as most our team are capable of scoring too. Having a rusty Remy on the pitch would have meant a deficit, and often when players aren't used to each other they end up spoiling each other, getting in the way, putting the mids and wingers in two minds about who to pass it to - not good. Yes it's a blessing - if Pards doesn't start with CW & CB!! Like he did last match. Then there'll be a big rant from me.

What a bizarre comment given none of us have ever seen them play together with a Palace shirt on.

'Most of our team are capable of scoring'
Are they? Who?
Ward doesn't
Delaney doesn't
Soare doesn't
Kelly doesn't
Delaney doesn't
MacArthur doesn't
Ledley doesn't
Cabaye doesn't
Zaha doesn't
Puncheon doesn't

Benteke, Townsend hopefully will.
Danns great at scoring for a defender.
Not exactly free scoring though are we.

Remy being injured isn't a good thing. Gutted for him and us.

Well I think Remy was brought in specifically to play a front 2...but at the moment we are all guessing.

Yes, the first 45 against Bournemouth was a mess, but to be fair AP switched it around and he's never going to know if things work or not unless they are tried. Personally, I don't think a Benteke / Wickham partnership is a goer.

I can't agree with your opinion on Wickham - there is nothing to suggest that he can and will outperform Benteke. Indeed if Remy was available, I don't think Wickham would be in the starting line up.

Playing 1 up front hasn't been successful now for close on a year.

And despite what we saw against Bournemouth, I do believe professional teams learn new tactics in training. We didn't always play with just 1 up front, how do you think the players got used to that ??

Most of our team are capable of scoring ? Really ?? The stats suggest otherwise.

Remy will only get sharp by playing regularly.

And if we don't provide a better service from other areas - including the full backs - into Benteke, then we will have wasted our money on him.

ANSWER:

Souare
Kelly
Delaney
MacArthur
Ledley
Cabaye
Zaha
Puncheon
Townsend
Flamini
Lee
Dann
Tomkins

...are all capable of scoring. This isn't even debatable. Dann was our top scorer last season. Puncheon can go through a purple patch where he's scoring. It is not even debatable.

LOL! Our 'stats' say we are capable of winning around TWO games a year! I hope 2016 isn't our expected bench-mark! I am refering to how we usually performed BEFORE our terrible 2nd half to last season. It is unfair to take my comments and hold them up for scrutiny based on our ability from last December! When I say 'score', I don't mean capable of 'tapping it in', I mean skilful strikes that result in goals. Lee did, Puncheon did, Cabaye did, Zaha did, Ward has scored from outside the box, Dann could almost be a striker! Souare hasn't yet but is able, MacArthur scores, I mean what did I say that was so odd??? The point I'm making is that with one really good focal striker in Benteke, based on our form PRIOR to last December, defenders concentrating on stopping Benteke can lead to opportunities for chances for other players - that's my point. As for my views on CW, your comment is valid and I have nothing to back up my gut feelings about him - they're just my instincts - as I believe his stats have suffered because of other factors. Also, I hope we actually can be successful at 442, but these are just my opinions - I may be wrong.

I said Dann was a good goal scoring defender.
How many goals have the players from the rest of my list scored in the last 12 months from open play?

It's a pity we didn't hold onto Dwight Gayle if we were looking to transition to a 4-4-2 formation this season. A front two of Benteke and DG would have been mouth-watering.

However, we've improved with Remy instead of Dwight. Oh but he's injured within 4 hours of signing. That's Palace for you!
