It feels like we are more of a complete unit without Cabaye but I'm sure that's just an impression not reality?

The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years

Definitely needs to be made to earn his place back.

And learn to calm himself down as he does get a bit aggressive at times when things do not go his way.
Good player though even if he is AP's love child!

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

It pains me to agree but this is spot on

I think one of the reasons people don't rate Cabaye's contribution is that his set pieces have been nothing short of woeful for much of his time here.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

Until now has been true.
Maca fit is the key element and with Flamini I suspect it will be great.
Sometimes players need bench time...

..Cabaye is obviously a great individual but his influence hasn't showed enough times to give us many advantages mainly because he gets so frustrated playing with total crap forwards, the addition of new and more technically gifted players will help him, but as of date he has not been suited to our play.

From what I saw yesterday, McArthur was often the farthest forward of the midfield central three, with Puncheon playing in a quarterback style role to receive the ball from the defenders.

I went as far as checking the heatmaps of each player (it's incredible you can see this level of information). While it's not conclusive, it does tend to back up my theory.

I watched the game with the sound down as the commentary was knackered. This really helped me to follow the game more closely, I'd recommend it.

Went to the game, Ledley sat deep with McArthur and Puncheon in front, both pressing their midfield and defence in their respective areas. Looked like they'd worked on that a lot in training.

I class Cabaye as just a normal member of the squad now. At first when he got injured i was downcast but now it doesn't make any difference to our performance. After all the hype and excitement at his signing he has not been a special player for us. A useful one yes but not special

I still rate Cabaye highly. His anticipation is elite. I haven't looked at any stats, but his ability to intercept passes seems fantastic, and he likes to put in the odd heavy tackle.

His passing had not been on show much, but I think this will be different with Big Ben up front --a much different target man. Also different with Townsend, who likes to play the ball up. With Bolasie the favoured play was knock it long and have him get there first.

I like Ledley, who is solid, but I'd take Cabaye any day of the week. Flamini I haven't watched enough, but my impression was a hard tackler who will earn his share of yellows and who makes a good first pass.

Played the bad half of last season either injured or carrying an injury.

When fully match fit and coupled with and equally fit Jimmy Mac, he forms one of the best midfield partnership in the division. We were top 6 with those 2 firing. We have not had that since Xmas.

They enable each other.

That said, yes he does have to earn a return.
