Pardew has luckily stumbled upon a central midfield partnership with Ledley and Jimmac that works. Let's see how good it is versus

Sunderland away
Everton away
West Ham home
Liverpool away

before we write about off a world class player who may well know he needs to up his game.

However, I do see and get that she Cabaye plays Punch doesn't perform.

Who else was there to pick? Jedi was selected before and Ledley has come in since Jedi's departure with only 2 options: Jimmac and Ledley.

So tell me who the options were?

I think Cabaye will fit in well with our new style. I don't think the last three games are as a result of him being out of the team, more that the team has started firing. I like Ledley, but I think Cabaye is a better player.

Possibly luck, equally recognising that it has worked before?

Was he lucky when Chamakh got injured and Punch had to cover the No 10 role? maybe. However in both cases he recognised that we had certain personnel who could perform a particular role. That's a good thing surely?

the dignified don't even enter in the game

I agree but pretending it's genius when Ledley has only come in again since Jedi was sold is overdoing it. And you could also say that Puncheon is required at number 10 so even more need for Ledley there and less options.

Of course you have to be flexible and adapt but pretending Pardew sat there this summer and planned Jimmac and Ledley to be the answer is nonsense. We held on vs Mboro and dominated a very strange situation of a struggling Stoke team.

Cabaye will up his game now there's 2 better options in Townsend and Benteke showing themselves properly to pass to.

You talk such crap sometimes Rudi, AP is not picking numbers for the Euro -Millions hes picking a team from a squad of players he works with every day.In the case of JMac and Ledley they were both at the club when he arrived so f@ck knows how many hours hes spent watching them train and play.He rates them both which is why he got rid of Jedi therefore its not luckily stumbled upon its who he chose to keep in the squad. I would of said Ledley and JMac would work well even before the season started FFS

You talk sh1t pal. He always played Jedi before Ledley. Last season, this season. Now Jedi's gone, in comes Ledley. If we were offered £4 mil for Ledley and not Jedi it would be Ledley gone and Jedi winning balls but not able to link up with those around as effectively. Ledley would've been sold for less than £4 mil and I suppose the panic after selling Jedi and not getting another midfielder in and bringing the higher class Flamini never really happened because we had that McLedley partnership Pardew kept secret during 24 games with 2 wins. Yeah right.

Over the two previous seasons Ledley played 4 more games than Jedi and he picked up his fair share of injuries over that period.Once again,he sold Jedi because his distribution was awful and he didn't fit his plans for this season.Ledley was a big part of Wales success in the Euros which was based on keeping possession of the ball between the 3 at the back and the 5 in midfield. He would never have sold Ledley that is just you spouting more b0ll0x because you have an issue with the midfield be it selling Jedi or not signing Rincon.Do your homework.

Yeah why not rewrite history. Of course Ledley was always above Jedi in the pecking order and before Jedi was sold he wasn't actually playing on the pitch at all. How have we had it so wrong and Pardew manage to keep this magnificent midfield pairing so secret for so long, but ready to unleash it on Mboro and Stoke. You talk utter sh1t at times but i shouldn't be surprised with your memory going no further back than 8 days.

Do you read what people write or do you just disagree regardless and stomp your feet? Jedi was immense for this club but he was an enforcer albeit one of the best to ever wear a palace shirt.I didn't say who was above who in the pecking order I merely stated the facts about how many games each of them played during the last two seasons in the PL.AP signed players that fit the transition he wants to make and sold those that in his mind would be weak links to help finance the business. Its not a difficult concept, its called progress.

I suppose that is what I am missing. I can see Dann's impact , I can see McArthur's impact , I could see Jedi's impact, but I cannot see what Cabaye is doing that wins us games, I cannot recall a game when I thought Cabaye carried us through that and won it for us.
His best game for us was probably the semi-final against Watford , but Jedi was even better in that game.
I also do not understand how Cabaye's loss of form is excused with McArthur's abscence , can he not be effective on his own? McArthur can play without him, why not vice-versa?
Anyway I shall keep watching , I really want him to show some international form for Palace.

Great post, and great point. In answer, because McArthur is in fact the one who is by far our most gifted central midfielder, well maybe not, but certainly influential, just about ahead of Punch who unfortunately is too inconsistent to gain the accolade (if he was as consistent as JM I think uncle Woy would've come knocking).

Cabaye does have an element of the "when he's not in the team" factor, then again so did KG. I too await the game where he wins it single handedly for us - he should be able to shine against some of the poorer teams at least! I think the over-inflated transfer prices this season masks the fact that he should be doing better for a 10M player (this seasons 20M!)

If Cabaye comes back in the team he should be nowhere near pens free kicks and corners but i fear Pardew will reinstate his golden boy to all three knowing full well we have players who are better at these rolls
