"Pointless" - that all falls down to your view on the overall topic. Assume you couldn't care less. That's just like me, I don't care either if they shut it down. To them, it isn't pointless. To them, it is a worthy cause. Looking at the momentum behind the overall "Save Fabric" campaign.. I'd say that a lot of people agree with them.

For someone that doesn't care much, you seem to have a lot to say. I wasn't aware if it was or wasn't shown and have no idea who Billboard are.

As for Fabric, had some great nights there when younger but have moved on, not because of age but because I stay away from that sort of scene now. I just don't think a football ground is the place to put a banner up about it.

Maybe the HF ought to run their banner strategy by me first as I seem to have my finger on the pulse of what might be acceptable at Selhurst than they have?

90% of their banners are related to Palace. The final 10% at least relates to the fans in some way. I'm not going to get into the semantics of politics, but who is it that essentially controls the budget of the local police force? Who works with the police to shut down pubs and clubs?

It seems like it's a matter of saving face in your eyes. Why do you care what other football fans think of Palace? Most of them don't even have an opinion. Not once have I met a fan who had a bad opinion about Palace (not including rival fans). Furthermore, it's not like the HF's behaviour turns our fixtures into bubble fixtures is it?

So they have the potential to do something about it.. the picture has been shared all over social media and the group have brought a lot of attention to the cause. I don't think "Save the Rhino's" would do much as it's not as specific a cause..

What do the "older" generation do for fun? If they were shutting down that Bingo hall in Croydon, I'm sure the HF wouldn't mind if you waved a little banner.. there definitely wouldn't be a thread about it!!

Is that where they play "House" music?

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Young kids that want to save a nightclub famed for drugs wouldn't even be aware of Rhinos being slaughtered in Africa or care two hoots about it.... that was the point I was making... as a 62 year old I also wasn't aware of "Fabric" or care two hoots about it.

However I wasn't holding up a bedsheet with Rhino written on it in the middle of our game with Stoke.

As I keep saying the HF are a welcome addition to the matchday experience, but cut out the politics and keep on singing the songs, banging the drum, jumping up and down etc.... we love that!

I'd LOVE to see that. Imagine the communal puzzlement that would create.

Maybe the next game after that hold up another one with Spearmint on it.

I hope the waiving of the banner has raised as much debate outside of this board as on it.

Fabric is a super-club that entices people to London from all round the world, and indeed a percentage of these 'club tourists' will also come to Selhurst and other football clubs to spend their money instead of going to cities like Barcelona to party and see football.

The closing of the club for what seems to be an attempt to turn the club into apartments not only is a finger up to the youth of London, but also points towards the continuation of the strategy of pricing people out of London.

I'd be surprised if ticket and merchandise sales at Selhurst Park are impacted by the closure of Fabric. We can ask the commercial team in three months.

I only have a lot to say as I think it's ridiculous the amount of negativity being displayed toward a section of the club for waving a bedsheet that says save Fabric

To be honest I think people fall into several camps when it comes to the HF. People who think they are tossers full stop. Those who like the noise they bring but think they have too much attention paid to them and they are fawned over for doing what most other fans do. Those who don't have an opinion one way or the other. Those who dislike a few of their members for past antics . Then those who fully support them, donate money, want to sit near them and so on.

What tends to happen with any person or group is when they are either disliked full stop or you have an axe to grind you will jump all over anything they do

Football; culture and youth culture are all things that bring tourism to our City, so it will certainly impact income to London as a whole, which can't be a good thing, especially in this day and age when England produces precious little in terms of exports. The knock-on effect would probably take longer than 3 months, but that would be an interesting bit of statistics to look at.

By then though, the nightclub will be a multi-multi-million block of apartments sitting there empty getting more an more expensive by the day.

I don't... but I'll take an educated guess that it's less than 20%.

Maybe you should remember that a cross section of our society go to watch Palace across all ages and social groups.

Of that 20% I mentioned above, probably less than 10% of them would be likely to go to Fabric, so we're actually talking about 2% of the Selhurst crowd being interested or concerned about that particular cause.

You ask what the 'Older Generation' do for fun?

Well part of it is following the club you have loved and supported for 50+ years and to be able to watch them win 4-1 at home at a canter without having to have some political demonstrations imposed upon us when all we want to do is celebrate.

I've never played bingo in my life nor intend to start so you'll have to think of another pastime associated with the elderly to try and undermine my argument.

All you are doing is burdening the rest of us with your sad disappointment about your precious club closing... as you get older you'll learn to overcome what life throws at you and bounce back... but you won't if you just dwell on the misery.

so just sit there and let pubs and clubs close down all over London because of property developers ,killing our culture . we live in a democracy where we can near enough say what we want , the HF decided as a group that it was the place to do it . I get sick to death of people saying , its what it is , no it isn't , the terrace protests by various fans groups highlighted the high cost of away tickets and it worked .

I don't go to fabric but venues I go to for gigs and drinking are closing down all over London and for me this protest was representative of this situation . by the sound of it London culture and nightlife has got nothing to do with you so why don't you just ignore it and let people that it does affect actually get out and make their voices heard .

interviewer " iggy , do you think you influenced anybody?"
iggy pop " I think I wiped out the 60`S "

Do you not think there would have been a better place to do it though? Agreed the protests about prices worked but that was because it was football related. A club being shut down because of drugs, according to reports, is not football related.
