Ledley was excellent against Stoke ,as was Mcarthur.
I thought Ledley's days were numbered but I was wrong.Playing with players who are perhaps more gifted than him in some departments has improved his game.He is playing to his strengths ,winning the ball and supplying the playmakers. Most teams need someone like that, and I think he will get a lot of games this season.

McArthur was the best player on the pitch by a mile and he is not 100% fit yet

We shouldn't forget we played similarly brilliantly with Cabaye in the team at the start of last season. However, away from home especially the McArthur/Ledley combination seems to just work.

It's not always about playing the best players, it's the best combinations. Look at the Gerrard/Lampard conundrum England had for years, two unbelievable players but they didn't work together.

The balance of the team is more important. Cabaye has lost his place as far as I'm concerned and must earn it back as McPunchley (sorry) is working a treat at the moment.

I prefer McLuncheon!

The thing to remember is not that Cabaye and McArthur worked well together, but that when they weren't in together our second option didn't offer much. We are currently playing well and the combo that got us high up the table in December is the potential fall back plan. That's a good feeling.

Last season we were worried when Bolasie was out injured. We missed Macca plain and simple. Please Pards wrap him in cotton wool.

Based on what. He was average atbeat last season at Arsenal?

I think he is probably the worst of the bunch ability wise but is a wise old head and decent cover.

This is the bare statistics of all games each has been involved in and includes sub appearance and all competitions.

Thanks. So my instinct was right albeit not by much. Over the course of a peen season we would take a 50% win rate.

Never change a winning team is the old saying. It will be interesting if Cabaye gets his place back as soon as he is fit again, as it will vindicate those who think he is Pardew's favourite

If that's the case it will be "luck" that AP bought him into the side and absolutely nothing to do with Cabayes class or AP's ability as a manager.Should we only scrape a win or worse AP will be a w***er and there will be calls to sell Cabaye in January from certain sections on this forum.

Ho ho ho. Nah. Hysterical. Pardew bought Cabaye and put him in with MacArthur to make one of our best midfield partnerships in our history. It's when that came to a halt it all went t1ts up.

And no I don't buy this intention to play MacArthur and Ledley when AP was having MacArthur, Cabaye, Jedinak, Punch sometimes in front of Ledley. But managers do find something that clicks when options are limited. Perfectly normal. Happens all the time. But you've made a big thing of it.

Listen you boring insignificant little boy, I had a similar conversation with you on another thread. You were all ballsy until I quoted actual facts about the subject and then you stopped posting and found a different thread to puke all over. What you don't realise is that while you do make some valid points occasionally the minute anyone challenges them you start posting in your default manner which is poncy, sanctimonious bellend.None of us are right all the time including you and also me but I will choose to side with those on here who manage to enjoy the result against Stoke for what it was in the grand scheme of things instead of attempting to dissect it and claim the ability to know what you simply cant. My comment above was completely tongue in cheek following on from someone elses similar post.

Ironic coming from you of all people. You should read some of the pompous verbal sh&t you irritate people with, getting all chopsy at the same time. And you appreciating that other people are right? That's a f'ing joke, right?

I stopped posting in that thread because I can tell you're in a similar mould as Sg Bilko. Not as bad, but as stubborn and pointless continuing with. Do me a favour, get over yourself and your hubris from your armchair you think is a throne.
