It's probably no surprise to you that time travel was invented in The Future.

So I hope you're not too spooked by my appearance.

I don't want to spoil the ending, but football has been absolutely ruined in my century.

I used to know someone many moons ago (excuse the pun) that also took too many mind altering substances. He managed to get help and is nearly normal again now. Maybe it's time for you too to seek such help

Quite right When Mal sent John Mc to the Os the game was truly up. Pass-pass -pass borrrrring!

And another thing all this diamond shape,in-the-hole, sweeper keeper is just blather and nonsense.

Oh for the days of kick and rush. Truth be told IMO under Sir Steve and Hopefully Al we will return to the Palace way. Get hold of it at the back with a proper tackle, lump it over the midfield to one of the wingers, who then launch the ball into the box for the striker to either score or knock down for any lad rushing on to the ball to have a punt.

I don't want to spoil the ending, but football has been absolutely ruined in my century.

It's now run by agents, corporate lawyers, marketing managers and Malaysian betting syndicates.

I just want to ask. When did the rot set in at Palace?

Was there a moment when you thought: that's it, the game will never recover from this.

Historians say Crystal Palace football club was ruined by the modernising efforts of Malcolm Allison, who took over from Bert Head.

Head used to play the traditional 2, 3, 5 formation (two full backs, three wing backs and five forwards) and footballs were made of super absorbent leather held together my a massive lace. If you made the mistake of heading a wet football you would be rendered unconscious. That's if the knot from the lace didn't puncture your forehead.

The history blogs I've read say that only eunuchs were allowed to guard 'The Wall' at free kicks, as they'd already sacrificed their reproductive capacity anyway.

But all this heritage was to be swept away by a terrible period of so called 'reforms' that de-humanised the game, say witnesses.

Allison's fancy dan ideas, such as using Derek Jeffries as a sweeper (ha!) was a modernising step too far for many purists.

When did football get ruined for you?

Off topic, I know, but I'm surprised that another old codger hasn't got in before me to point out that the 2-3-5 formation didn't include three wing backs (which hadn't even been heard of then) but two wing halves and a centre half.

What do we want? Time travel
When do we want it? It's irrelevant

If you are from the future then why didn't you nobble Mark Hughes and Juan Mata ahead of their equalising goals in cup finals against us?

Call yourself a proper Palace fan?!

time travel into the future is though to be possible by a lot of leading scientists, backwards travel is a NO.

'As you approach the speed of light, your clock runs so slow you could come back 10,000 years in the future.

You're right. That was an unacceptable mistake!

Well spotted. Hand me a revolver and a bottle of whisky and I will retire to a quiet room.

If you were actually a time traveller you would know the answers to the questions you've raised or could easily get them by travelling back in time yourself.
