Just a thought, should Fat Sam be sacked, with a revival in Pardew's stock with 3 wins in a row, would he be back in the frame for the England job??

So you'd turn down the chance of 400k? He did say he'd have to ratify it with the FA. He didn't at any point suggest that he'd do anything behind anyone's back. Was he a bit daft and naive? Yes. I just don't think that he's actually said anything that's wrong.

That's how I understood it. I really couldn't see anything he'd done wrong. Saying there are rules against something but ways around them is not in any way 'dodgy' (my accountant does it all the time - it'll cost you x amount in tax, but here's some ways to reduce that)

Would be absolutely stunned if they considered Pardew (if Allardyce even goes). The FA hate nothing more than controversy with their managers, so why would they appoint someone with a history of volatile touchline behaviour and a lot of alleged personal incidents that would almost certainly be raked up.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

It's only a matter of time until all the (allegedly) dodgy managers (with relatives as agents etc) will all get found out. Problem is The FA probably don't want them to be found out as they will also be found to be complicit.

Sam should be sacked, but chances are, he won't be due to the "Run it past the powers that be" line.

If he gets the sack I imaging he will have the best win % of any England manager.

It's the same with Cameron and the tax, legal loopholes may exist but in a position of responsibility like that you have a moral duty to not try and 'get away with things' in grey areas. There is no question that as England manager he should know better. Should he stay on it will be because he has just been hired and that may give him a chance.

For those who don't think there is a problem, the Guardian's take is well worth reading:

Does anyone remember the manager of the team that bought Third Party Ownership to the forefront in England?!

Over the coming days the Telegraph will detail how:

The assistant manager of a high-profile football club accepted a £5,000 cash “bung”
Ten managers were named by players’ agents as taking bribes to fix player transfers
Two well-known managers discussed becoming ambassadors for the same fictitious firm as Sam Allardyce
Another high-profile manager admitted his players broke FA rules by betting on their own games but he failed to report it
A senior figure at a Premier League club helped undercover reporters to formulate a plan to bribe managers

Is sport morally bankrupt? It's beginning to look pretty dirty again

England have been offered a lifeline here to overturn the terrible decision to appoint him in the first place.

Don't waste it.
