I'd happily gob or piss on Blair.

Unless he was on fire.

It'd be the same, do you really think that the Brexiters wouldn't be angling for a second referendum and their idiot wings going on and on and on about it.

Problem is, we think we want democracy, but probably a quarter of the population lacks the emotional or intellectual capacity to understand that means sometimes not getting your own way.

and more sadly than most else, from my social grouping certainly, it seems to be the more educated/socially adept that are whining the loudest about it all.....

Yeah, that never sells to well.

Remember john Prescott being egged. Also I bet the majority of mps receive abuse be it in person, out campaigning, via their constituency office on the phone or via post. Majority of them don't draw attention to it and cause a big drama for sympathy / attention and simply get on with the job

And that's why I keep Brandy in a hipflask, so I can spit on a burning Blair.

Personally, and I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I think that spitting, egging, harassing, and generally abusing MP's and politicians is an essential part of the political process. Assault and murder probably is going to far, unless they're really c**ts.

Being hated is part of the job. If your going to be leader of UKIP, which is a very right wing party, you kind of have to expect to be hated by people on the left. Just like when the far right turn up at left wing protest, you don't expect flowers and chocolates.

Politics by its nature is devisive, and expression of hate is a part of that. Its kind of sad that we've got to this stage where we think politicians deserve respectful treatment and everyone should 'accept' and acting with acceptable decorum and behaviour, like somekind of gay smiling 1984.

Its essential for politics. You get to egg them, and they can have a dig back. Keeps em honest.

Threats, is just lame, like death threats over social media. Get out there, buy some eggs, and vent. Part of democracy is 'showing how you feel' to the people in charge, not f**king winging to your friends on facebook.

Problem of the left these days, too much keyboard warrioring. Not like the old days when you'd get out there and have a ruck with the National Front.

Not really.

Murdering someone is clearly a different ball park.

You cannot legislate for the insane. We could have a vibrant discussion about political nutjobs murdering MP's and scores of Norwegians on an Island or someone prepared to assassinate a leader.

I am talking about otherwise normal everyday people taking things far too far by actually physically abusing someone.

As has been pointed out "egging" an MP was a popular pastime 10 years ago by both sides of the political spectrum, but since then the ante was raised by using paint and manure. Students demonstrating about course fees chucking a fire extinguisher off a roof into the police standing below. Now people are spitting in faces, smashing windows and dishing out physical abuse - preventing politicians campaigning even. Students also preventing speakers turning up for lectures at their campus because they don't like their views etc.

Democracy is dying, if Momentum/SWP/Radical Students get their way.... wearing those "V Masks" to hide their identities and prepared to dish out physical violence to their opponents (and fellow Labour MP's). Even preventing people having a private life by turning up mob handed at pubs/restaurants on a Sunday when MP's are with their families!

These people hold down responsible jobs too... we are not talking about the unemployed working class but so called middle class privately educated people.

I think any politician who is proven to have lied three times, should be chemically castrated.
