playing in one of the strongest leagues in world football.

out up n down results are that of a mid table team.

to lower the goals let in would only be that of a team with ideas of finishing top 8.

the current form is totally and utterly acceptable for a club like ours.

^^^ This

Nice to see a realistic and sensible assessment of our situation.

Man City weren't Man city 5 years ago and started to raise the bar on the pitch and expectations.

Did they only do it on the goal their opponents were
defending? If so..explains a lot

Bilic out-thought Pardew with 3-5-2 as some have already pointed out - 3 on Benteke snuffed him out while their wing backs stopped our full backs and wingers from doubling up - we linked up better 2nd half but we tended to hoof it into midfield and gamble on getting the second ball as a basis for most of our attacks - I think what's lacking is a Number 10 - the attacking midfielder, I know we're still interested in Lima from Santos - Cabaye looked good so we should improve as he does, but our system got rumbled as it did last season, there was no real plan B just a change of personnel in the same positions and an instruction for the full backs to attack more. Not anti-Pardew, we have some truly excellent players but he and the squad do have a few limitations at this level and we need more flexibility when we are getting out-played.

does anybody also think that damos frustrating aimless longballs just cause us problems? its almost like "you cant teach an old dog new tricks"

they never amount to anything and as much as i love the guy for his spirit & determination, i also cannot wait for a dann/tomkins partnership to flourish.

Surely the reason we lost was because Benteke took the worst penalty in league history.
If he has cored we would have gone in 1-1 and I think we would have won.

Papering over yesterday's cracks I am afraid!

We have far more limitations at home than away. We generally have serious problems in imposing ourselves on teams who come with a specific game plan as WH did yesterday. The Hammers pressed us all over the pitch forcing us into errors. They wanted it, alas we didn't as much. Their tactics were always going to be this.

We always help teams out who can't buy a win when they come to selhurst. Sunderland, villa, scunthorpe, whoever it is.

Hearing Bilic was playing 3 central defenders and cresswell coming back at left back after their awful display vs Southampton had me expecting a likely West Ham win.

Pardew being a streaky and average manager who can deliver only when a plentiful selection of players are available. Not a complaint but it's a limitation for a while.

Control Benteke with the 3 central defenders and control our wingers and its job done.

They are the reasons we lost as well as the penalty miss. Wasn't expecting much from the last 2 and the next 2 which is why I wasn't doing cartwheels after beating the dross that is Middlesbrough, Stoke and Sunderland. Now we're playing better sides some reality and waking up with the team and management is hopefully setting in or we could be on a 4-6 game run or more without a win again.

So you weren't celebrating after we had won 3 on the bounce,Pardew is an average manager and we could lose the next 4,5 or even six games.I suggest you ship out old chap,go and find another team to support because if you openly admit you were not buzzing after winning those 3 games then you are either supporting the wrong team or maybe watching the wrong sport. If it makes you unhappy then get rid Rudi.
