Still alive then? His tour is called 'not dead yet' But looking at how unwell he looked from his interview i'd say he'd be lucky to make that tour. Could turn out to be an ironic title

Phil Collins: the man whom so many like to ridicule given that his days of coolness are over ...but then so many of us have some of his music within our vinyl or CD collection. Much like Abba, in so far as not wanting to admit but inwardly admiring that the music is timelessly great.

Poor old Phil.Has probably been slagged off in recent years more than any other musician from the 80s/90s. I don't think it is totally deserved. People will often lazily jump on the critical bandwagon. Initially, this often appears to be because some right-on music journo/paper has decided that they don't like an artist and will diss them at every opportunity. The artist then becomes a cheap and mindlessly easy target for everyone's jibes and jokes. If nothing else he was pretty tidy drummer.

I was a young man in the Genesis / Pete Gabriel / Phil Collins days. Saw all of them at some stage or other when they were together or solo. Loved them at the time and then completely went off them as well. Got tickets for Glasto next year and it would be another Lionel Richie moment if Collins did the 4 o'clock slot on the Sunday. He would smash it and I'm sure those young and old would love it? Going back to seeing him many time in my youth, I remember seeing Pete Gabriel at Selhurst Park in concert and Collins was his drummer. It was also the Undertones last U.K. Gig as support to Gabriel. Great concert and I love all music old and new as should everyone :-)

Totally unrelated story, but a mate of mine works for a generator supply company, and regularly goes on tour with big name bands. Given that the band in question haven't toured since 2007 and previously not since the mid-90s, I wouldn't give that story to much credence. The guy has had a drink problem in recent years as he has admitted.

If it makes me sad to like him I don't care, but I do get the mickey taken for being a fan..
