Fusion on a scale large enough to run national power grids is a long, long way off. This isn't a tech that's going to be applied at scale by anything short of essentially limitless government money, no doubt tied up with private sector intellectual property patents.

Sorry.

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

Unfortunately yes. This article has a lofty headline but is only actually reporting a 15% improvement in plasma pressure compared to what they were achieving in 2005.

Still miles away from even being practical, let alone providing "unlimited fuel"!

This is momentous and hopefully, the development will continue.

Even more momentous is that Benteke converts next penalty and that we run a victory past Leicester next game and continue to build upon from there. That or Halley's Comet next appearance? Which will come first?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Were probably the best part of 100 years away from nuclear fusion.
When we do finally crack it however the human race becomes a type 1 civilization so expect weather control, the ability to create life, human spaceflight, quantum computing & harvesting gas/water/minerals from planets/comets etc.

So long as we don't go extinct before then we're good, I might add the odds of us going extinct are considerably lower than reaching type 1 civilization...
