I've just been informed that former midfielder Peter Berry has passed way this week, aged 83.

His playing profile is here: [Link]

There's an obit in the local Aldershot paper: [Link]

He played in the 50s so was before most of our times but it's always sad to hear of the passing of a former Palace player. RIP Peter.

Younger brother of Johnny Berry, Manchester United player injured in the Munich air crash and never played again. They ran a sports shop together in Aldershot when they'd both retired.

I saw Peter Berry play many times. I'm sorry to say my only memory was him hanging his head in disappointment after missing another goal chance.

His record as an inside forward was poor with a mere 25 goals in 161 games. To be fair it was a bad time all round and Mike Deakin was the main striker in those depressing days with Palace scrabbling around at the foot of 3rd Div. Sth.

RIP Peter.
