Oh mate - please don't feel compelled to tell me and the masses what my actual reasoning is with my comments eh! I have no problems being open & honest on HOL as been on here for years.

Truth is, one thing I've learned in life is that when you gut instinct is screaming at you it's always right. Couple that with the sustained poor form in 2016 I feel quite confident about what I'm saying! I'm just miffed I seem to be in the minority. If it does go sideways with AP the masses will be spared any 'Told you so' rhetoric from this corner as that doesn't really feature in my posting repertoire! But I may well make an exception specifically aimed at you ...

And for the record, I would like nothing more than AP to do well ... what Palace fan wouldn't?!?! People who don't agree with you & the like are basing their comments on continued poor results, continual bad decision making, no plan b in games, AP seeming to walk exactly the same path he has with other clubs where he has failed etc. It's not rocket science FFS

I get the idea you don't like Pardew or I guess any other manager of Palace that doesn't play and get results to your liking.
You state that Pardew has failed at other clubs, I challenge you to name any manager over 50 years old that hasn't been ( Wenger accepted, but Gooners want him out) sacked in their career.
The manager you yearn for doesn't exist.
As soon as some of the doomsayers realise this is the best period in the history of Palace the better. There have been many false dawns over the years, but the management are steering along a difficult path. They seem to be doing not so bad so far, it is natural to want more success, just its not that easy.

I don't understand this calling for Plan B, what is a Plan B? I would of thought using substitutions and changing players around would constitute a Plan B, but apparently not.

Promoted at reading, West ham,
Top ten finish at Newcastle (5th), West ham, palace.
Fa cup final with West ham and palace.
Done well enough at Southampton and has been relegated with a poor Charlton team he inherited.

Would hardly call his career in management a failure.

Just responding to your previous post in which you stated you thought my comments had supported your own view that you fear we will get little return from the upcoming games. I do not share that fear. Don't take it personally.

I'm not saying it can't happen or won't happen but I refuse to take a negative viewpoint on where we are at the moment. I also cannot accept the viewpoint that we are an established EPL side that has a right to be here. I was ten years old when Palace made the top flight for the first time in their history. It didn't last long. It never has. I want to enjoy it whilst we're here again and not be constantly fearing the worst. I actually believe we have the structure in place in terms of ownership, squad and management to give it a good crack. I tell you something. If we hadn't been fortunate to pick up Pulis when we did, we wouldn't even be here now. Pardew has better stats at Palace than Pulis at WBA. You're edgy because our roller-coaster is steeper than theirs?

Of course he makes bad decisions (in our opinion - with hindsight). Of course there was a run of bad results, albeit that the football played didn't always deserve it and we had a bad run of injuries.

Find me a guaranteed better option and I might consider joining your bandwagon if we are in the bottom 3 at Christmas. Except you can't. There are no guarantees in this game.

I get abused, insulted and patronised every time I have an opinion on this site that's against the grain. When someone consistently tells me I'm a plastic who doesn't have a clue about football amongst many other snide comments and doesn't even have anything to back up the point they're making, I feel entitled to call them an imbecile!

You are not entitled to personally abuse someone who challenges youropinion, which is what you did. You are free to choose to do so, but nobody has to tolerate it and it undermines any point you have. You signed up to forum rules when you joined. Nobody wants to deny anyone free will but there are consequences.

It's great to passionately debate a point, just do so as if other people are human beings and not your inferiors.

What's your opinion Hambo? Sometimes you can close a thread or bring 2 parties closer.

My opinion is that few managers get defended with a 5 wins in 31 record. I see some merit in doing so given that some fairly significant changes have been, and are being, made on and off the pitch to address how the club goes from a counter atttacking and over achieving team, to one which has quality footballers and an identity on the pitch.

There has been a fair amount of bad luck mixed in with the poor form as well and as uncomfortable as it might be for those who dislike Pardew to acknowledge that, acknowledge it they must to have any credibility.

If Pardew fails to address the poor form then there are two critical points - one is just before the window opens in Jan. If we are struggling at the bottom then, the question is whether he or a new manager gets the substantial January budget.

The second one I could see a change is a month or so from the end of the window. There would be no possible excuse for not having the team on an upward trajectory at that point.

I have mixed feelings on Pardew. I agree with his vision for the club but need convincing he is capable of getting us there. As it stands his desire to do so and leave a legacy is way off. I want him to succeed but if you want me to call it, i am leaning towards this being his last season in charge, Hope I am wrong.

All good replies / posts to my comments and I don't disagree with a lot of the sentiment. My points are nothing to do with thinking we are an established Prem side who has a right to be in the top 10 and / or challenging for Europe. Far from it in fact. My point is around form and continued bad form at that and getting sucked into a relegation battle whilst having the best squad on paper we've had since we've been in the Prem and let's not forget it is only October so we have a long way to go yet!

But, let's see how the next 5-6 games pan out as we'll just be going back & forth with our arguments otherwise. And as I said before, I'd be happy to be proved wrong in all this. Elated in fact.

Well done both sides. Always gets a bit heated but common sense prevails in the end and no hard feelings. Emotive this football lark, ain't it.
