Dangermouse makes some good points. As a Palace supporter you should be well used to the ups and downs. You could argue that we are not a big money team so AP has to make do with the players that Palace can afford but when they get injured it presents a real problem as we do not have the depth of talent that other teams have available. Having said that some of the decisions made are probably not down to AP but done on a purely financial basis. For instance selling Gayle and keeping Campbell. Some of the late changes in a game are more down to panic than tactical. There is little point changing managers at this stage as there is no magic wand that can be waved. With all the money at their disposal and buying the most expensive player in the World, Manure under Jose are not doing too well either!

I think sometimes it's the vehemency of the argument that can lead to that impression. I know it's BS as we are all Palace fans in our different ways. I'd be more interested to know how you manage CPFC with your glass half empty though? For me, my day to day is such that I need to at least keep the football positive!

I think the vehemency fully comes from both sides. It's what riles me up to this extent anyway. I have tried to have many reasonable debates about pardew (during bad AND good times) on here/in the pubs before games etc. And have constantly been shut down in quite an aggressive fashion.

With regards to the half glass empty, I don't view it that way. I think we should be playing better. As I've said it's the style of football we play under pardew + the players we have that = the negativity (the results that have invariably come with it also). I'm massively optimistic about the future of the club, being able to go to selhurst and see Christian Benteke leading the line with Mandanda in goal and Cabaye in the middle is something else. Im just not convinced at all with pardew in charge, and I think that viewpoint is more than justified!

I may not have been around as long as some but trust me I've grown up with palace being relatively s*** and I love them all the same, win or lose. But we're not in that phase anymore, we gotta drop this losers mindset, and I just can't understand how people can defend Pardews record in the past year.

Can you tell me how long you have been around as for me and many others we are actually on the crest of a wave ATM. So just how long have you been aboard the rollercoaster ?

Im 22. Possibly very young to many but vividly remember administration, promotion, relegation and general mediocrity whilst all my mates were moaning that the new arsenal kit wasn't as nice as last years.

I too am at the highest point ever of being a palace fan. Don't see the correlation between that and thinking the manager is s***e but am sure another smart Alec will find a link between the 2 and make it out as Me just being an immature plastic bed wetter.

I am not looking for a stick to beat you with but I am looking for reasons why you are thinking so differently from me. It could be a generation thing I have kids older than you and quite a few of their age group just don't seem to have the patience of our generation. But you should be careful what you wish for in this game as it's littered with broken dreams, Leeds, Bolton, Charlton, Forest to name but a few would give their right arm for what we've got. We are currently the 11th best team in the land and AP is at the helm, he may have a few querks ( who hasn't ) but that will do for me. If it all goes belly up SP will act and life goes on but while he's here I support him and when the next man comes in I will support him also. Simple for me

This is what does for me. If AP goes on another long bad run or we're fighting the bottom 3 then SP will have AP out.

The last 2 runs of fixtures really say it all. He beat the sh1t and struggled vs the better and got nothing really. Played well in parts but prepared badly. Next up is Liverpool in hot form. If that continues into the beatable sides then we and he have a problem.

Unless SP has a target lined up its not worth moving AP out. The risk of it falling apart and being relegated for 1 or 2 extra places in the league. Kind of similar happened to Charlton. But if we're near the drop then the risk factor changes. He's just extended his contract so that's really how it is.

But that doesn't mean fans can't vent their frustrations with AP. He is average for this level but if average keeps us here then ok. When it looks like he won't they bye bye.

Unfortunately the talk of the FA cup final in the future will now have the memory of Pardew doing a stupid and embarrassing dance when he could've been sending out instructions. Shame.

I think the next couple of games are going to be very important. If we lose them, not only is this board going to go into meltdown, the players might start wondering if they're going to go on another long loosing run. If that happens we're in trouble.

I agree with these sentiments.
You and I on the same "Wavelength" is a very worrying development as far as you are concerned !

Yes I was thinking the same. Unfortunately because of these types of runs a lot of expectation will be on the Burnley away game which you preferably don't want.

In fact until Christmas the next 9 games have us play the very very hard games at home and the more winnable games away. That can either be a good or bad thing. Let's just hope it's ok or better or it could be all change. See, I don't want him sacked purely because that'll mean our failure.

Thank God we beat Mboro, Stoke and Sunderland and played them when we did or I think we'd be in serious trouble and asking Keith Millen to draw a couple of games during the headhunting process.

A chairman should always be aware of who is available and who might be approachable as that is part of the chairman's role

You know, it seems to me as though the confidence of the squad (or it's lack of confidence) mean that we stand more of a chance winning against the better sides than we do against those who are 'meant' to be beating or at least competing with. Having said that, we seem to have a greater freedom against better teams away from home.

It's going to be very interesting this next run of games. If things don't go well at Selhurst Park against the big teams - I don't think we'll get a result against Liverpool, but we might against some of the others - AND we underperform against our contemporaries away, then I think the writing will be on the wall for Pardew. Curiously, if Pardew is to consolidate his position, I think it'll be because we achieve the former.
