Thought I'd bump this.

I'll not deny that our defending was well below standard and dare I say almost on a par with Sunderland at times!

I'll not deny that Liverpool are a very slick outfit going forward and will certainly be there or thereabouts come the prizegiving at the end of the season.

However despite our deficiencies at 60 minutes we were only a goal adrift and were more than a match for them. We had increased the tempo and as Klopp indicated post match, his side had put so much into their 1st half pressing that they were not able to compete at the same level 2nd half.

So, cue Mr Andre Marriner and a 5 minute spell either side of the hour mark that frustrated our dominance, interrupted momentum and gave respite to Liverpool when they needed it most. At the time I had to walk out onto the concourse for a minute or so to get away from the AM show. This morning I have watched that spell back on BT to see if maybe I was over-emotionally caught up in it all. My opinion has not changed. I counted a string of eight decisions in a row where he distinctly favoured the scousers. This did not include the earlier double penalty appeals but did include the later one on Zaha where there was definite contact - the sole justification for his award of the penalty against us in the fixture last year.

There has been criticism of Cabaye for dissent towards referees and he picked up another one yesterday during that spell - can you really wonder why. Marriner was so poor during that period that a conspiracy theorist might conclude (like Clattenburg before him), he makes his employers' requirements far too obvious.

THIS.

Last season playing for Liverpool Big Ben got a penalty when there was little if any contact, this season playing for Crystal Palace he is blatantly barged over practically in the goal mouth "play on " .
That says it all for me.

If there was any doubt in my mind that there was systematic bias towards the "big" clubs yesterday's showing blows it away.

Anyone else see that two Liverpool men were offside for their first goal? And one of them received the ball.

It's a f****** farce now.

Liverpool were good and might have won anyway but the refereeing was biased in my opinion and it's evident from earlier posts that others share my view.

I can't say I agree with that statement - just looked and it doesn't look like it to me?
I agree with the third penalty appeal on wilf but he is unlikely to get anything nowadays until he stays on his feet a bit more.

Give over, blaming refs is boring now.

Please explain exactly how Wilf will get penalties if he stays on his feet????? He could be gang raped in the area and he still wouldn't get the penalty....

I guess what I mean is that he goes down too easily and has done for a while now.
A bit like the boy who cried "Wolf" - after doing it so much no one believed him when there really was a Wolf!

Its just easier to see luminous yellow kit.

That was the key to the game!!

Im trying to think, what, if any offence would be committed. In the 1st instance, it could be 'serious foul play;(red card), OR it could be 'violent assault'(red card).

Now, as either do not cover your assumption, as there is nothing in the Laws of Football, to cover this, I can only assume that the 'old bill' might want to 'have a word' with both parties for outraging public decency.

I'm just sick of all the play acting.
Obviously on Saturday they were worthy winners but the Liverpool players seem programed to go down at every every opportunity. The bigger the club the more they get away with it.
Players pretend to have been fouled and feign injury to get their opponents booked or sent off.The fans know they are acting and so I believe do the refs but they seem obliged to free kicks etc.
Wilf at the very least was impeded and we all know had he been playing for Liverpool he would have had two penalties. As Benteke would have.
People have a go at Wilf but I think we are too honest, cheats seem to prosper in the Prima Dona League.

Another referee to add to the list of abysmal officials,Michael Oliver.
He's having an absolute stinker in the Stoke v Swansea match.
