What are people's thoughts on the team v Liverpool?
From an inside source I heard that Townsend may be dropped for Chungy

Based on Townsends last two appearances and that Chungy has done nothing to keep him out of the team, a very good decision by Alan P.

We might still be missing Puncheon, surely Lee would do better in that role. He has struggled when put out on the wing, Townsend isn't great at tracking back but Lee is probably even worse. Lee seems better at the pressing game and linking the play in the centre of the park. I'd drop Ledley for Lee.

That's basically replacing a winger e for more of an am type player. Might work well - bring on the pace of Townsend in the second half when Liverpool are tiring from their high press

Might be to shore up the middle a bit. Liverpool tend to play througH the middle and Townsend plays very wide.

Nice to have 2 wingers that play wide, but they need to tuck in more when we are defending. Especially against Liverpools midfield .

I would keep the same wingers and play chungy as direct replacement for punch. Him playing alongside cabaye and Mac. Our ball retention at times is appalling and against an in form and high pressing Liverpool team this will be near impossible if we stick with ledley Mac and cabaye. We'll end up getting so deep and if we can't keep the ball it'll end in attack after attack for Liverpool. Chungy is not the answer but will at least offer a bit more of an outlet and not leave benteke completely isolated.

I'd play a mid field line of three

McCarthur TomkinPuncheon

Stiffen up the middle and another tall playef if we get any corners

Probably shouldn't be saying this but whatever. Apparently Pardew didn't drop Townsend cos of performances. It was because he called Lesley a "Welsh C**t" in training.

Oooh...that's not cool if true. But silver lining is he's on the bench - which is fair after his recent performance
