We pop up to Eagle Heights a couple of times a year. Talking to the staff, it seems that these birds love to fly & Kayla is no exception. Possibly she's starting to age now but she still flys every day locally & her 'fame' really helps the Foundation gain much needed income.

Rescuing these creatures doesn't come cheap & the centres need all they can get to keep going - especially as there are always more that need help. I'm certain they would not risk the health or well being of their animals which may explain her recent absence from games.

Give EH a visit or donate a couple of quid - I think they deserve it and it may just help Kayla into (semi) retirement along the way.

If Kayla had lived in her natural environment, there is a good chance she would be dead now.

Gamekeepers kill any predatory birds that venture onto their estates to protect grouse etc for hunting which generates monetary profit.

I'd love to see Kayla roaming free and living her life to the full.

I'd love to elephants roaming free instead of being butchered for their ivory tusks to generate monetary profit.

If I was the OP I'd look to support charities and organisations that look after animal/bird welfare. I support the RGT (Retired Greyhound Trust) which re-homes ex racing greyhounds that would otherwise be put to sleep. I have re-homed 5 greyhounds and donated/help donate thousands of pounds for the cause.

We can all rant on forums but doing something positive about it gets better results eventually.

Everyone should provide food for birds/wildlife in their gardens.

Greyhounds do not need a lot of exercise actually - they are very lazy dogs compared to collies and terriers.

See the picture below... Milo loves his bed and is totally chilled. He does enjoy going out, but lets us know when he's had enough and wants to come home!

I'm not in favour of any creature being kept in captivity especially birds and animals that are used to roaming great distances in their usual environment.

Sadly human nature means that we are generally destroying global wildlife habitats, poaching animal parts and blood/bile for quack doctor remedies in China etc and the best solution right now is to create false environments to protect them.

Hopefully we can educate people to share the world fairly with our creature friends.

Her story is in the link I posted - stolen from the wild as a chick then found & released by the authorities which failed. Eventually recaptured and ultimately it was be rescued or (as with her sister) euthanasia.

Humans have a lot to answer for.

Well if you feed the birds, you'll also feed the rats, squirrels etc but then the cats will start to take care of that.

Sadly, we can't even educate people to share the world fairly with other people, let alone other animals.
