It would be more pertinent to the debate if you focused on the actual rather than the academic.

The fact is that there has been an unprecedented influx in migration - temporary or permanent, time will tell - and communities have been forced immigration upon them.

There has been no or little planning or assistance from the authorities with this.

This has been largely done for economic reasons, partly social engineering.

The fact is that the inaction of the authorities, or the unwillingness to address the issues mass immigration brings, has and is creating ghettos, social apartheid and resentment.

Whilst some people will be reluctant to integrate the bigger issue comes from lack of planning. Leaving communities to fend for themselves and dropping migrants in an unwelcoming environment.

Of course there will be effects from this

This is well worth a read (to those of all persuasions). A few years old, but this resonated with me when I first read it. Looking back at it now, I personally think it's very sad.

Perhaps it's because I'm just a Brexit-supporting racist bigot, but I do wonder why it's seemingly only the "Western" / "European" countries that must gleefully accept these levels of multiculturalism.

This is not multiculturalism and only highlights various governments failures at managing migration.

As I said before, it is a tragedy for the indigenous and migrant communities that this type of ghettoisation is allowed to happen.

Speaking for others again, I see.

So, out of curiosity, i just google street viewed the area in question. Tidy gardens, neat rows of houses, clean streets and....wait for it....4 out of the first 6 people in view were not Asian but white.

Not a bad score for supposedly 1% of the population.

This 'ghetto' is, obviously, not quite as terrible for Britain as the article is trying to make out. There are much worse places. Poor scaremongering journalism feeding those with a certain mindset who can't adapt nor accept that their views are based on paranoia.

But it's not though, is it? You delve into the history and ethnic make-up of practically any trade route town/city across the globe and you will see a mix perhaps going back centuries.

Pre WW2 and 'cleansing' many parts of Eastern Europe was a spaghetti junction of cultures living cheek by jowl.

I always find it amazing Michael that you know best and know everything.

Like the Copper you met in '85 who told you about Orgreave, your 'evangelical friend' who gives you low down on religious thought, curiously, just when there are religious threads on here and now your encyclopaedic knowledge of multicultural Britain and the places where migrant communities live. It is astonishing. One cannot think that you are wasted in Property Development and should become a professor, or similar.

BTW, of you are going to have a cheap dig, almost 'trolling' which I know you wouldn't do given your occasional and what could be perceived as hypocritical given your previous condemnation of trollling, get it right. It was an observation I made. I am speaking for myself.

Except it wasn't, was it Michael?

Ever been to Venice? Seen the medieval Jewish Ghetto? People were living apart pre war, in ghettos. It happens here as well.

That's kind of what I said. Migration isn't actually a problem, and until recently, as in the last decade, with the Freedom of Movement never really was except in some peoples heads.

The problem is the scale, not the phenomena.

Freedom of movement has established a significant factor of population growth, that's been used for economic reasons (wage control) but the resultant profits have not been taxed accordingly (with that tax utilised to reduce the impact on the people of the UK in terms of public services, rent controls, housing etc).

The reality, is that corporations have massively profited from Freedom of Movement, at the direct expense of tax payers, with no real compensation for the majority of tax paying citizens.

Immigration isn't the problem. With an exit from the EU, the capacity to reduce the issues of Freedom of Movement exist. The question is whether any government will reasonably do so, if its at the expense of UK corporate interests.

It's certainly about scale and with that comes separatism, crime and ultimately political unrest.
More and more we will see minorities using their power to influence matters effecting the majority. It amazes me that people cannot see this coming.

Well that would require

That either all minorities had the same goal and agenda, or be were not a minority. Where as in truth minorities tend more towards divisions between other minority groups than they do the majority. Especially when talking in terms of ethnicity.

The power of any minority group to influence the majority, invariably requires that it has appeal and support among the majority (such as civil rights issues, equality, workers rights, womens rights etc).

In truth you'll probably find that the majority are better represented among a minority group, then other minority groups.

Outside of the Muslim groups, among other minorities, you'll probably find no or few supporters of Sharia law, and within it, you'll probably find a significant split against Sharia Laws, in line with the majority.

I'm pretty certain that Lesbians (a minority group) would become part of the majority in relation to sharia law (with only a subsection of Muslim Lesbians being in support of such a thing).

Its important to remember, that when considering an issue, that a minority group elsewhere, is more likely to be part of the majority than supporting another minority, dependent on the issue.

Granted there are divisions everywhere but on some issues there will be uneasy alliances. Look at the EU referendum and the massive London/rest of country split. Do you not think that that was in large part due to the ethnic vote? It is my speculation that it was.
