Why are these Union w*nkers still striking.

"Guards" are not necessary on the London Underground. The driver shuts the doors and has done for decades FFS.

No safety issues about door closure on the tube.

Why do the RMT keep banging on about safety for Southern Rail?

If we had let the Unions win in the past we would still be using steam locomotives and employing wheeltappers FFS.

We're constantly being warned about the increased threat of terrorism these days. If that truly is the case, then i'd say having guards is an absolute must on all trains (whether above or below ground).

They should be armed guards. I think they ought to shoot first and ask questions later as well. Especially when it comes to dodging the fares because ultimately that puts the cost up for us good honest people.

I admire them.

I get to work from home because of the strike and I'm getting reimbursed for it too.

Result for you. There may be more aspects to this (on the back of Thameslink 2000 now to be completed in December 2018 than anyone knows.

What will they do TUX - wave a red flag at the terrorists (after they've checked their ticket is valid or sold them a lukewarm coffee)?

ASLEF agree a deal with Southern which will allow driverless trains:

The RMT haven't. So much for solidarity.

Hi matt. Im sure its a typo but its not driverless trains.

And I'm not sure that the deal has stitched up the rmt. Solidarity lives by what I'm hearing. The report i have is that the Southern have agreed to keep a second safety trained member of staff on each train which is exactly what aslef were asking for. We shall see when it all comes into the public domain but i think you should hold fire until the full facts are known.

And let's have a monumental slow hand clap round of applause for the inept, waste of space that is Transport Secretary, Chris Grayling.

You are correct, it was a typo (one can only dream of the deunionised utopia of driverless trains).

It does appear strange that one Union has agreed a deal whilst the other hasn't, particularly given their closeness during the dispute.

Yes, let's wait for the outcome but the noises thus far are that the RMT aren't too happy.

Morning Troll.

To be fair, I don't agree with much sporty writes, but Grayling has done absoluetely nothing in this dispute. He's not even tried to appear to be doing something. He's just sat back and let it be a problem between employer and employee, which is fine if it's not impacting a massive number of employers and employees from other companies!

I mean, what exactly is a transport minister for if not to show an interest in transport?

Troll may have a point about Grayling but I was referring to his Pefwinesque tendency to respond to most of my posts and then cry like a little girl when challenged.
