Totnes food market today. £3.50 - £4.50 all the stuff was and most ingredients sourced from local farms. Good choice of curries, gourmet burgers, crepes and artisan bakery food, etc. Overheads must be very high in BoxPark but i thought the idea of using shipping containers was supposed to negate that? Still, Croydon needs a shove in the right direction so maybe it will still be there in three or four years. Won't the local scrotes spoil it though or are groups of young lads tacitly banned? The bar is great but sits on the outside of the park. Only (huge,) issue is it doesn't have its own 'facilities.' You fill yourself with lovely beers and eventually the seal needs to be broken. You have to go out of the bar up into the main box park walk (jog/sprint,) to the very far opposite corner of the park though some doors round a corner and relief is at hand. A good 5/10 minute each way. Oh and toilets shut before last orders. Shame as great addition to Croydon scene

When I went, I didn't need the toilet, so I am going to totally dismiss your concerns I was only there for one drink, as I didn't know anyone and I'd not long struggled through customs at Gatwick But I couldn't help comparing it to that crap place we all had to go to in George Street when I was a kid (The Kings Cellars) and I think it's magnificent. You young people (that's anyone below the age of 49) don't know you're born. We had to make do with a party 7 of Watneys, which usually had a cigarette end in it Edited by OhthisbloodyPC (13 Nov 2016 6.23pm)

Ok what was the name of the pub across the road from East Croydon back in the 70's? Portakabins iirc. Proper dump that was.

First place to have a video jukebox in South London! Park Street it was. Maybe thinking of Shireffs which was in George Street and around the same time? (the Kings was awful) Edited by Kermit8 (13 Nov 2016 7.22pm)

Toilets are probably 1min30 max if you have to navigate a few crowded tables, unless you were factoring in having a 5-min piss and queuing for the hand dryer/quick line in the cubicle?

Apparently Croydon Police weren't even consulted about Box Park alcohol sales development given answer received from local coppers following arrest of two violent drunks who were intimidating x 3 females on East Croydon Rail concourse last Friday night.
