Do you think that Ledley/Mutch/Lee/ are better than Jedinak?
We have not even replaced him - like no ordinary (that is what we are) team needs someone to sit in front of the back four and break up play - of course they do!
We have no on the field leader - Dann is proving to be poor in that regard.
People said his passing was poor - have you seen our passing this season - it is a shambles!
Jedinak was brought back in to the side by Pardew last season (reluctantly) and without him we may well have gone down.
A leader even when he doesn't play every week is worth his weight in gold - trust me.
He is a huge loss and one that AP will rue.
Jedinak playing against the likes of West Brom, Burnley etc may well have got us points.
He loves Palace and would have stayed and it still annoys me that Pardew just let him go.
In my opinion his worst single mistake in his tenure as our Manager.

100% agree. We need to find another Jedinak and hope that they can develop a love for the club and pride in the shirt. Because that goes a long long way.

I think we're missing a number 10 and full backs more.

With no real number 10, McArthur is having to spend a lot more time getting up to support Benteke rather than sitting alongside Cabaye. It's great when it works (first half v Liverpool) but also very bad when it doesn't because Punch/Ledley don't have the mobility to cover the same amount of ground (see again first half v Liverpool).

The combination of McArthur and Cabaye was very effective at shutting teams down last year, but we haven't seen that this season.

Full back is an obvious area of weakness.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

“You speak to guys inside the camp, you ask about Mile, I understand where a lot of supporters are coming from, but they want him on that pitch.

“He might misplace a pass or two here or there but they want him on that pitch.

“It’s the intangibles that he provides – presence, toughness, leadership, coolness from the penalty spot".

For the past year or so a lot of fans have been dismissive of the Jedi suggesting he wasn't good enough for the Palace, a lot of the comments where very disrespectful.
Now he's gone he's a great guy and we should never have sold him.

I've previously posted this, but it seems worth doing again.

Over the 2014-15 season our record with Jedi in the team:
W6, D7, L11 (or 1.04 ppg)

Jedi out of the team:
W7, D2, L5 (or 1.64 ppg)

Over the 2015-16 season with Jedi in the team:
W4, D9, L14 (or 0.78 ppg)

Jedi out of the team:
W7, D0, L4 (or 1.91 ppg)

So, yes, let's talk about the intangibles.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Jedinak almost notoriously seems to take quite a few games to settle back into things, being in and out of the side didn't help him under Pardew. I believe he was getting back to his best at the tail end of last season where I thought he was MOTM in the semi and final in the FA Cup, AND I thought he was our best player in the defeat to West Brom this season.

I think Pardew simply just didn't understand Jedinak's game, last year he was trying to fit Jedinak into the same role as the injured McArthur, which was bizarre.

I think Jedi is not better than our starting XI midfielders - no way. However, as others have pointed out, he IS better than our back-up/bench midfielders. I wonder what the point averages are when Ledley (I rate Ledley btw) or Mutch are in the team?

During our great run in the first half of last season, Cabaye and McArthur were the DMs. Jedinak wasn't in the side at all.

I think the trio of McArthur, Cabaye and Puncheon was wonderful for that period, whether we're doing something fundamentally different to that or teams have learned to counter it, something is not right. Also we do need more of a plan b and Jedinak could have been part of that plan.

The thing I can see that's different is that this season McArthur has been really pushed forward to support Benteke. Cabaye's stats indicate he's doing ok but for whatever reason teams still seem to walk right through our midfield. Pushing McArthur so far forward might be giving Benteke more support up front and also making us into a better pressing team but it comes at the expense of not having McArthur back alongside Cabaye.

I can't argue with you because I have not done the sums.
I will check though as it seems a little odd to me.
He rarely played in the first half of last season when we did well but when it all went wrong he came in and steadied the ship.
Stats cannot be argued with but they don't always tell the true story.

When I looked it up, it was far worse than I expected. But you are free to check for yourself.

Look up the games for yourself. He had a decent run of games but it made little difference.
