Having watched yesterday's game and indeed the last few performances it is totally obvious that there is a major defensive problem. We keep being told that we have good defenders and defensive midfield players yet we keep conceding poor goals. Our organisation is poor, have the players really bought into what AP trying to do. If he can't get his message across, and it looks like he can't, it maybe time for a change.

Like a good deal of our supporters I think we have a squad that is capable, but it's not delivering. Time to take a good look as to why. If change is needed it will need to be sooner rather than later.

..think you'll find that it is, it's just luck that's not.

Last seasons results have no bearing on this seasons table. We are 15th and its the first week in November, and to my knowledge no team has ever been relegated in 15th spot after 11 games. We are leaking goals but we are also scoring them which we were not doing last season so there is an improvement. If we are bottom 3 at christmas i would think then would be time to look at change.

..with players during January.

Leaving aside us as an example, every club has financial limits which restrict them in the 'Transfer Market' so how they use this money is very important.

..and it is laid out for everyone to see in the placings in the table at this precise time, we are doing quite well with considering the problems we are suffering with individual cock ups and unfortunate mistakes....which will eventually iron themselves out leaving all the posters who are overly worried about our situation wondering what all the fuss was about.

At best we are a mid division team. At best!

And there's nothing wrong with that, but it does mean we'll win some and we'll lose some.

What is actually wrong with our league position considering we had a net spend of £10M?

So many fans expect so much, we have no right at all to consider ourselves to deserve a place in the top ten. None. We are not top ten side, spending net of £10M does not make a top ten squad.

So now we know for a fact, we're not a top ten side. Why do we bay for the managers head insisting we should be a top ten side....

We are not a top ten side......

Really are we??

So our league position is actually spot on, all things considered.

Totally agree. Yet, as per the facts I also posted, AP has us on track for a mid-table finish, even with this "terrible form".

Leagues are never run over a calendar year, so that argument is totally irrelevant. Again, taking everything into account we are about where we should be, and if a few of our chances had gone in we would be much better off and therefore punching well above our weight. Still way too soon to panic ladies and gents.

Sickboy, you need to read your post in the 'Time is Time' thread. [Link]

"No need to panic yet"? Pardew out, drop Mandanda. Your words, or is it my glasses not focusing properly?

For someone who usually likes to regale us with your football knowledge you seem to be being a bit coy on this.

If I recall correctly, FFP is based on previous 3 seasons income. Due to where we were as a club in the first year, that was effectively 3/5s of f*** all.

I have been not listening in to the show the last couple of weeks, due to the ongoing issues with many calling for AP's head. Especially the Holradio guys.

5 years ago, do you all think we would be an established premier league outfit, with the likes of Benteke, Cabaye, Dann, Mandanda on our books? no. It's easy for us to say we've won 5 games in 38 (or whatever it is) so lets call for AP's head. What about the players? Should they not be to blame just as much as AP? No? Why if they dont follow orders or a game plan why is it AP's fault? I suppose it was AP's fault that Damo failed to mark for two clear goals in the early part of the season.

I am just happy we're still in the premier league with a manager like AP, and the likes of the players we now have. This is a new squad with a new game plan every team like this needs to gel. We spent 9-11m Net spend, AP didn't spend 30-50m Net spend like most of you think. We sold a huge player in Bolasie that changes games, we need to adapt to this new play style.

I am happy to give him until Christmas/New Years, possibly even january as we seriously need to look our Defence, with a Rightback (Sorry Joel) and a Left Back on loan much needed.

I'm not worried about relegation this year like I was last. There are other sides imo that are worse, with the likes of Stoke and Sunderland.

Yes, outside of HOL I have been described as a "Football encyclopedia" and the like, but alas not even me knows everything about everything !!!!

Of course we were subject to FPP restrictions but nevertheless I have questioned some of our signings and at the time was somewhat aghast that we went in for certain players.

..yes, it's very painful trying to inform posters that they are panicking through silly mistakes that have nothing to do with any manager at any football club, the players themselves cannot believe how this is happening, the first goal yesterday hit our defender twice as he fumbled to clear it, they are panicking as much as lots of posters on here are doing.

I keep seeing this argument on here and can't believe that people genuinely believe that last season's deterioration is irrelevant to our current struggles.

The points may reset in the summer but there are plenty of examples of runs of form continuing over the break to show that consecutive seasons aren't completely seperate entities.

Leicester, for example, won 7 of their final 9 games in 2014/15 to stay up. They continued that form into the following season and won the league.

Our fortunes when Pardew took over at the start of 2015 actually mirrored that of Leicester. He won 10/18 games to keep us up easily. Also like Leicester, we carried the form over the summer and won 9 of the first 17 games in 15/16 to leave us in the mix for the Champions League at Christmas.

However, whereas Leicester continued their good form until the end of the season, we didn't. As of January 2016, Pardew won 2/18 games and we eventually finished 5 points clear of relegation.

Again, our form continued after the summer and we have won 3/11 games so far this season, likely to become 3/12 after Man City.

The point of all this is that, in my opinion, anyone who discounts the correlation between our form at the end of last year and how we have done and will do this season is either naive or doing so deliberately to suit their own argument.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...
