I thought iggy wrote it.

They wrote it together and share the writing credits. Iggy Pop released his version first, but given that Bowie co-wrote it his isn't a cover.

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

Donny Hathaway's version of "Jealous Guy" is nice..

That's one of my favourite Cash covers too. It felt sufficiently different to the original for me to enjoy it as a cover.

People talk about Hurt, which might have been a different style to the version NIN put on Downward Spiral, but performed live Hurt is a lot less noisy and Cash's cover is therefore not unlike the original performed live.

I like how he personalises the song to reflect his own faith.

Possibly one of the worst cover versions of all time! Cringeworthy, especially the video! Most of the other selections are pretty good though!

Seeing the Fleetwood Mac thread got me to thinking:

Need Your Love So Bad:great Fleetwood Mac cover of Little Willie John

and, anyone remember Duster Bennett? Think I saw him supporting someone at the Fairfield Halls. Fleetwood Mac did a great cover of his "Jumping at Shadows" with some fab Peter Green guitar playing

Red Red Wine by UB40 is pretty annoying, but I think it could be nominated in the category of 'biggest gap in quality between original and cover'. That merely reflects how dire the original is!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)
