It sounds to me like the driver fell asleep or blacked out, as a person that was on the tram has said that it suddenly sped up as it approached the bend.

I have plenty respect and also have two close friends who have been in attendance all day at the site where there has coincidentally been no mention of 9 lives lost. My point is that there is always a "i know someone who..." and then a spurious quote, alot of which ends up being wrong and potentially disturbing/hurtful as is seemingly so in this case.

I've seen quite a few quotes that state "at least 5 people dead" and the "number of confirmed dead may rise". Someone who was there may know more than the press have stated, as they perhaps only report the ones who have had their next of kin contacted?

Its a shame that our news networks couldnt devote a bit more time to such a tragedy occurring in one of the largest towns in the country, involving our citizens. But hey, what do dead English people matter when you can spend all day and night pontificating about obnoxious odious c***s over the Atlantic.
