We should be expecting top ten all season then with that wage bill.

A good workman never blames his tools though, so what's the excuse?

Why should we be expecting top 10 if we have the 11th highest wage bill in the Prem?

Come end of the season, the points difference between 10th and 14th is usually tiny and I expect us to be there, in line with our wage bill.

Serious worry of relegation would be an underperformance

20th highest average wages in the world and the worst average points per game in 2016 out of the 92 clubs of the top 4 divisions. Money being taken under false pretences.

Guess by that logic it would be reasonable to assume we'd be 11th and no higher or lower.

Considering we're two points off 9th then we may well be 11th come the end of the season.

But also goes somewhat to suggest we're not a top ten side as there are ten sides that pay higher wages. Most likely to bigger and better squads.

I'm actually very pleased to see us on that list though.

So you don't believe as a club with the investment made we shouldn't be aiming for top 10?

You originally said expect. The difference between aiming and expecting is significant.

In terms of aiming for progression it is a positive thing. It shows that the club is raising its expectations from relegation survival to becoming an established mid-table club.

Given that level of wage (which as someone above mentioned is guess work - it's not reliable at this point), then the club should realistically expect to achieve somewhere between 8th and 14th. Anything outside of that would be an outlier and reflect genuine under/over performance.

Yes it is significant but also subjective. Palace should be aiming for their highest ever finish, going as high as they can. The club however, should expect to finish top ten. It's a no brainer. Especially with finishing in that margin recently.
As an example, Arseal aim for #1, they expect top 4.

Not really sure what your point is.

I'll ask the question again, feel free to answer it

'So you don't believe as a club with the investment made we shouldn't be aiming for top 10?'

And we were unlucky not to get a point. Just saying.

But then teams with lower wages than us will get points off city.

Also, look at the wages that beat us this season... just saying.

Agreed, but when we've 'nicked' the points from those financially better off than us in the past it barely gets a mention, so why now?
Our wage bill shouldn't be an issue imo as we're still small-fry at this level. Not particularly attractive as a club so therefore we need to pay through the nose for 'talent' until we become 'a choice' for many players.

Edit: Our Net spend over the summer was around £11mil, give or take a sheckel or two. Pretty much the lowest in the league.
