I honestly wanted to see Freedman at Celtic to see how he faired. A fair point but contradictory on two fronts If allardyce is not appropriate because he is a 'character' but fits the bill otherwise, then who else is credible (Freedman is not an option)

If we need a new manager it will be to get us out of a relegation scrap. Fat Sam fits the bill but like Mackay previously the baggage might be too much. My preferences would be Chris Hughton first then Roy Hodgson but a change won't happen until Xmas if need be.

But you said in the post I quoted, that anyone would be better. Now you're saying they wouldn't be. Which is it? By the way, I don't want Allardyce. I don't like watching his sides, it would be about survival. And the irony of those people whining about Pardew not being up to delivering decent finishes in the league and then calling for Allardyce who would likely take us no higher, is priceless. Pardew should get until Christmas having given us two of the top 5 best seasons in our 111 year history as a club. I have confidence based upon the chairman's past record that he will do what he thinks is best. I suspect Pardew will be gone by the New Year if results don't pick up.
