Well other than UK job security In truth though the UK has still maintained border security, as the points of ingress into the UK, and the requirement for passport control is much more enforceable. When you consider the number of borders countries like Belgium, France and Germany have its very difficult to effectively control those borders without requiring a virtual army of immigration and police at each station, road and airport. Even then there are miles upon miles of countryside at which crossing could occur.

Let's remember that not all terrorists are necessarily terrorists when arriving in Britain or are in fact actually from somewhere else themselves. There parents might be the immigrants. With things as they are in the Middle East and some parts of Asia, I am left questioning the wisdom of allowing significant numbers of people in from those regions.

I'd argue that some turn to fundamentalist groups as a result of the way immigrants are viewed upon and treated, or perceived to be treated, by a lot of people.

Yes, because Britain is such a terrible place to live if you are an immigrant.

You live in a fantasy.

If there is any reason to resent Britain, it would be our history of imperialism and exploitation of other countries. So Britain should be the last place you want to live if you harbor such resentment. If you have just developed it recently, best you move elsewhere.

For some it is yes. Thanks to the rise in hate crimes (as verified by the police) and bulls*** as fact (schools banning christmas because of upsetting immigrants being a case in point) that seems to do the rounds. it's utter s***e, but people still take it as fact as it suits their mindset. It feeds the rage, which is what certain newspapers set out to do.

The second point is so wide of the mark. Why are you bringing up imperialism?

There is no excuse to take up terrorism or extremism in this country whatsoever. You are making excuses for such behaviour.
If people are so sensitive as you suggest then that is a very good reason not to allow them here. In any country you are going to have a tougher time as a minority that where you come from, unless your country is a hell hole.

I'm not making excuses for them. It's hard to know how others must feel when they face racist / xenophobic muppets who rip muslim womens' hijabs off or daub their homes with racist graffiti, but it's bound to have an effect. as is the constant near islamaphobic nonsense we get from the media.

You are talking in circles and still making excuses for extremists.
If you move to a foreign country then the onus is on you to fit in for your own sake.

And the onus is on the new home country to treat incomers fairly.

Britain is a very fair country and only a tiny minority of people indulge in the kind of behaviour you describe. To use that to excuse extremism really does demonstrate that you are away with the fairies.

I'm not saying it is a main cause, but the drift rightwards in the national vernacular will not endear this great nation to newcomers, and yes it will have a negative effect on some.

If this country is moving rightward it is because the people had mass immigration forced on them when most didn't want it. All highly predictable.I have seen little to convince me that their stance was wrong and neither have the majority it seems.
