Quote Palace have struggled for goals this season, despite the arrival of Christian Benteke, and are languishing in 16th place ahead of this weekend's trip to Swansea.

But Pardew is confident he can still lead the south Londoners to a respectable finish.

"Our problem is not scoring goals, which is the hardest thing at this level.

How do they manage to say that we are struggling for goals and have a quote from Pardew saying "our problem is not scoring goals" within a couple of sentences?

Scoring goals is not an issue. It's the fact we can't bloody keep a clean sheet.

I would have kept Shipps. He is a big old unit bounce the ball off him and feed off the scraps.

Erm, Remy isn't our player. Gayle was.

It's not saying would I straight swap Gayle for Remy. It's making a bold assumption that we couldn't possibly afford both their wages and then making a further assumption that a crocked loanee is a much better prospect than a fit registered player.

My ideal option would have been Benteke and Gayle as our strikers with loan Remy as an option. If for whatever reason this was not possible despite record amounts of money for the club, then I'd definitely keep Gayle over a crock who will only go back to Chelsea if he proves himself with us anyway.

All this hindsight 20/20 nonsense, Pardew is a Premier League manager and the buffoon clearly didn't take into account injury records, Gayle's strike record when played to his strengths (with Benteke) and the fact that our other 3rd and 4th choice strikers are well off the pace.

I don't think this is an argument I really need to win, the man hasn't played a second of competitive football for Palace and Pardew has no alternative to Benteke, so he's in the wrong whichever way you spin it.

You can't get all your transfers right. Pardew in his time with us i'd say has a fair record in player acquisition.

He hasn't had any real howlers, only Mutch, but even then he was never more than a squad member... Adebayiou was a gamble, and i suspect has Parishes dabs all over it... Lee, reasonable low priced squad member... Soure, decent signing... Tomkins, Jury's out, seemed sensible enough at the time... Benteke, great signing... Cabaye, great signing, even if performances maybe didnt match expectation, still been a class act and his presence kept other key players at club... Sanogo, low cost gamble... Mandanda, jury out but looks a great signing... Flamini, poor, looks finished and would have preferred Jedinak for another year around the squad... Remy, busted flush, low cost...

All in all, done alright in that dept i reckon...

Remy could still come good yes he has picked up a knock again but what do you expect this happens more often to players who do not play much and he has hnot really had a run for few seasons now so it's expected.

I really see no point comparing Gayle to him Gayle is gone and Remy has not been on the pitch plus he is only a loan deal so if it doesn't work out he will be gone also they are two different style of player.

Like many I was very excited by the prospect of Remy playing but his situation with us will not likely be a cheap one. Almost certainly a significant loan fee and wages. Just bad luck like Souare's injury which has massively unbalanced the team despite his defensive frailties.

Yes I fear we will not see much return out of Remy by the end of the season.
Add this to the dynamic prowess we saw out of Bamford last year perhaps Chelsea might see their way into loaning us Hazard or Willian next season to make up for it!
