The commentator suggested Palace had worked hard all week on defensive play, against set pieces and particularly trying to nullify Sigurdsson. If that was the result, I suggest non-stop golf might have more success. Contrary to other posters, we have Puncheon(one of my favourite players), a quick look to see a Swansea player coming, failing to jump to make a challenge, but just putting his backside into the opponent. This, central and about 20 yards out. Poor. We know the result. The %age of goals resulting from free kicks in and around the box is high. Unprofessional, naive to give away unnecessary free kicks.

The commentator suggested Palace had worked hard all week on defensive play, against set pieces and particularly trying to nullify Sigurdsson. If that was the result, I suggest non-stop golf might have more success.
Contrary to other posters, we have Puncheon(one of my favourite players), a quick look to see a Swansea player coming, failing to jump to make a challenge, but just putting his backside into the opponent. This, central and about 20 yards out. Poor. We know the result. The %age of goals resulting from free kicks in and around the box is high. Unprofessional, naive to give away unnecessary free kicks.

It was well documented that A Pardew could face the sack if we lost at Swansea. The players did not look like a group that were knocking themselves out to keep him in his job. Says it all i think. When Pardew took over he inherited a very good honest bunch of players willing to fight and give their all. Now they seem a lot less interested. The fact he digs players out personally in the press does not help unite a team.

Its just plain marking whether zonal, man to man, frontal, behind or side by side we ain't doing it. We Just don't have a clue at present. Any premiership team should be able to comfortably mark another team at set pieces all day long without being taken apart. Palace have additional height so even less of an excuse. I have not seen such woeful crap defending in 40 years its shameful. The confidence other teams must get watching games involving Palace must be immense! Southampton will probably watch three of our last six games a day for two days and analyse them, train on another two days and have the rest of the week off!

Its just plain marking whether zonal, man to man, frontal, behind or side by side we ain't doing it.

We Just don't have a clue at present. Any premiership team should be able to comfortably mark another team at set pieces all day long without being taken apart.

Palace have additional height so even less of an excuse.

I have not seen such woeful crap defending in 40 years its shameful. The confidence other teams must get watching games involving Palace must be immense!

Southampton will probably watch three of our last six games a day for two days and analyse them, train on another two days and have the rest of the week off!

Puncheon loses the ball a lot in midfield (e.g. the second goal in the final was down to him). He, Townsend and Zaha all fail to jump for challenges.
