we have no leaders. no one who wants to take responsibility.

That starts with the manager his position is untenable.

..often wondered why nobody ever has any one standing on the posts during these sort of kicks, the keeper has to obviously still go for it but the amount of times they are left stranded leaves me wondering, in fact why don't they all just stand along the line and be done with it.

Because if you have a player on the line they can put as many as they want on the line cos he's playing them all onside.

Out of interest, what if a defender stands behind the line? Will he get booked for leaving the field of play without the referee's permission?

I know, totally off topic, but we need some sort of light relief.

And we can't zonal mark.

And we can't zonal mark.

A lot of teams are struggling with zonal marking this season. Many don't want to do it, but it's called the Mike Riley effect.
It seems we are incapable of defending without grappling.

In attack you attack the ball, in defence you attack the player.

Because he needs a rocket up his backside!

Bring back Brolin

Losing the dressing room?
Demoralized, unmotivated or just unsure.
I would actually prefer to think of our players as brainless rather than those "professionals" who under perform because they take against the manager. Chelsea players last season were a disgrace to football.
Being an old git, I find a lot of things about modern football disappointing but being brainless is not one of them.

It's good to keep an opened mind, but not so open that your brains fall out.

Simple solution: Bring back Dougie as the defensive coach. We were tight as anything when was in charge, couldn't score for love nor money, but that doesn't appear to be a problem St the moment.

At dead ball situations Benteke has a job to do. As a very talented player why shouldn't he be marking one of their danger players? Players aren't cutting it, no excuses.

when I played football the centre half marked their centre forward - that was because he was best equipped to do that job.
Why Benteke is being asked to do the job is beyond me and yet another reason why "we don't know what we're doing"!

Same here - you used your attackers in defence but you certainly didn't put them up against the opposing CF, that was the job of your best defender.

I kind of agree with the Phil Neville article linked earlier. Watching each game it seems we are set up right but our inability to defend set pieces is a real Achilles heel - almost unthinkable considering our record last season. The manager doesn't cross that white line & professional footballers (at any level) should have an idea of how to close out a game.

Really think that Dann is thinking more about others now he's captain rather than his own game & that's not helping and we miss Damo's 'defend at any cost' mentality.

What the deal is with Flamini god only knows - I thought he was brought in to do the job we've needed doing in several games where we've let things slip.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!
