Luck has played a big part in our decline and you cannot control your luck.

You can be 'unlucky' with a decision, a shot, a save and to make up for it you'll have a bit of corresponding 'luck'. Luck doesn't explain 11 months of shocking PL form. In reality 'luck' doesn't exist as an entity, there are just mistakes that sometimes go in your favour and sometimes not. Take note of this, attributed to Sam Goldwyn:

"The harder I work, the luckier I get"

Perhaps if Pardew had put a bit more hard work into the team we wouldn't be in the position we are now. It's only losers that curse their luck for their own failings.

Players are supposed to be developed byvtheir coaching. This lot have been getting worse. There's only one thing they all have in coomon and that's Pardew. Man management, tactics, discipline, confidence, fitness, selection, assignment of roles and lines of communication are all defined by him.

They were perfectly good players and they've been Pardewed.

He's lost some of them (Townsend) and others (Kelly) he's f***ed up so badly they can't function. He's let Cabaye get away with thinking he's Zidane, he's overburdened Dann with a captaincy role that he doesn't suit, he's pi$$ed Puncheon about in the cup final and ever since, he's turned Sako into a lumbering lump and he's assumed that Benteke is God and left him to sink or swim. And I don't know what he's done with Flamimi. Perhaps he's boarded him up under his kitchen floor.

The only one still functioning seems to be Zaha.

Also, they were a team - whatever happened on the pitch or off it, they played as a team: for the manager, for each other and for the fans and they talked to each other on the pitch both for encouragement and in anger, whichever was needed at the time.

This lot(or a good few of them) frequently look like they can't wait for the game to be over so they can have a bath and bugger off... journeymen footballers.

Whatever happened to the team spirit that used to be visible - perhaps that's been Pardew'd too!

Bit harsh, wilf scored (relatively rare occurrence) and took the lead in a vital game, let em celebrate it however IMHO.

We don't consider ourselves 'underdogs' anymore, we think because of the players we have, we are better than teams like burnley, Swansea etc. Therefore AP has decided we don't need to defend in depth, whoever we are playing we can go toe to toe with. I doing so we have lost that determination and back to the wall attitude that has seen us overachieving on past seasons. While I'm sure there are teams we can go toe to toe with, there are quite a lot if teams we still need to defend in depth against and on occasions park the bus to grind out a 0-0 away from home. AP doesn't seem to realise this, and if he doesn't soon we will go down.

Pardew wasn't driving Souaré's car. His loss has been a killer.

Pardew was manager when we looked a really good team THIS season. That five match unbeaten run until it was interrupted by the first international break was good. And then we saw a gradual disintegration until yesterday's shambles hit rock bottom.

Yesterday was a crisis point. And Jules is right, the players need to take a good hard look at themselves and take responsibility for not being what they were a couple of months ago.

None of us know what happens on the training ground. None of us can say where the responsibility lies. Our job as fans is to panic. Parish's job is to ignore us, stay calm and use his judgement. I trust that judgement, and he DOES know what goes on inside the club. So we will see what he thinks is necessary.

My gut instinct says, 'watch out Southampton; the backlash is coming your way.’

I agree, I think we will give Saints and Hull a right spanking. Alan Pardew has adressed our problem of lack of goals scored, sadly the players have forgotten that they need to defend and concentrate at set pieces. The mistakes are simple errors and can and I'm sure will be addressed.

Alan Pardew has tried to change our style of play to be more creative, score more goals and be more entertaining. I'm sure it will come together, I'm happy to give him until January. I hope the board will too.

Not sure I want Pards to go, but you cannot blame the troops, it comes down to the Generals. That is the territory Pards occupies. Finish.

Going to get loads of abuse for this but I don't believe AP should be held fully responsible for this latest miserable run, and the players need to take a look at themselves.

I cannot remember when a team last scored a good goal against us. The management can only do so much in training and plan for matches. In my view some of the players have been a f***ing liability...

Mandanda - has let in several poor efforts since the start of the season, especially at Burnley where he was awful.

Ward - one of the only players who always puts his body on the line and gives 100 %, unable to get forward as much as usual.

Dann - it is like his s*** twin brother has turned up since being made captain, his marking and organisation has been nothing short of pathetic.

Tomkins - looks good in the opposition box but absolutely horrendous in ours and doesn't seem to know the basics of marking.

Kelly - has cost us numerous goals, inexplicably passing to De Bruyne and gifting City their goal last week.

Cabaye - I thought he had been decent of late, but that failure to clear the ball yesterday was unreal, 80k a week to have a touch like a rapist and costs us a goal.

Mcarthur - always gives 100% like Wardy but his passing has been terrible of late.

Zaha - cannot fault Wilf as he is always a threat and finally delivering an end product.

Puncheon - has returned to his anonymous self and looked like a right ponce backing out that header yesterday causing a free kick which they scored from.

Townsend - looked like a right bargain a few months ago but has severely dropped in form, sulking and moaning because he can't play on the right. Gives away a lot of free kicks in dangerous areas which lead to goals.

Benteke- scored a few goals but not enough for 32m. His defending yesterday was an embarrassment costing us a few goals. Granted he's a striker but a Sunday league striker could defend better.

Wickham - such a shame he got injured as he has looked good and a constant threat.

Hennessey - sufferring twin brother syndrome like Scott Dann.

Sako - looks like he's swallowed a fridge, slow and laboured.

Overall I accept AP has made errors like keeping Kelly left back, however he can't be blamed for some of the mistakes that keep happening. The one from Cabaye yesterday sums this shower of s*** up.

He should be given 2 games to save his job.

Thick and thin. PTID!!!

Probably got the idea from AP doing that pathetic dance in the cup final instead of getting the team set up to defend for their lives for the remaining 10 minutes.

What the team that was at our end of the ground celebrating? My God what bull. He did a silly 2 second shimmy, then turned to the bench to sort things out. Maybe he should of run down to the celebrating players and gave out individual laminates with precise instructions on? Maybe it was Al that allowed Rooney to go on that run without anyone of our heroes willing to take one for the team?
By all means Pardew should go, but having a bitch about something so insignificant to make your point valid is beyond laughable.

I don't understand your point of giving him another 2 games to sort it out, Do you really mean he needs 38 games a full season, that's how long this terrible run has been going on. Or are we supposed to forget the matches before this season, manY changes of player in that period. The only real constant in all that time is Pardew, He has to go before its too late

It was embarrassing and made him look like he thought we'd won the game when he should've been concentrating on how to see out the last few minutes. Once again he showed himself completely unable to instil effective game management on his team, instead making himself look a utter tit.
