That's not what I was saying. They don't run the club, but they do have an influence imo. The question is, will Parish sack AP if the HF are still loyal to him?

Yes. Hes a businessman. Yes he's a fan but it's a business and that will be what influences his decision ultimately

Seth I was actually chatting with 2 of the "top boys" 😜 at the Swansea game (lovely lads to be fair with good hearts and much smarter than they look) They had both had enough of Pardew as that was before we kicked off. Not that their opinion matters a jot to Parish like other posters have suggested. I imagine they'll support team to the end as we all should. Then lay into players and Pards as we wish after another defeat from a mistake by Kelly, Hennesey, poor marking from a corner to let Austin score or some weird sub by our gaffer when we're holding our own 😜

A lot of people don't agree with the fan base publically eg with banners or chants at games showing they don't support the manager and causing a feeling of unrest they want to appear United. What they say at games or behind closed doors is different but the public face of palace is to support the team not De rail them with negativity

I think the point is missed by many.

And it won't be the chants of OUT etc

It will be the silence from the HF that will resonate more than 8,000 fans all hollering and calling for Alan's head.

The HF's tireless vocal support is taken for granted by many but if they stayed quiet can you imagine how that would play out with the owners, TV types, the media etc.

Underestimate their influence at your peril; they are huge part of the Palace marketing strategy.

Maybe we should just be like Arsenal, and boo at half and full time? I don't think it's any secret that Pards is unpopular at the moment, and Parish knows this. Unfortunately, with the board, sacking people a month too early/late carries bad penalties, and getting it right is difficult. Too early and you're deemed as too trigger happy, and too late and you still get the blame. The HF probably have as much effect as the rest of us; the only difference is that the HF are organised and are lot more vocal about it - a sort of "you don't ask, you don't get" type thing.

Point taken, but it's always been the case that fans will voice their opinions when things are going wrong and we're no different. We have the right to say what we think and the club will take that into account, among the many other things they need to consider at times like these.

Interesting point and I totally agree with your last sentence, hence my question about whether Parish & co would go against their wishes if it came to it.

Sounds like they feel the same as most of the rest of us. Will be interesting to see what happens on Saturday when/if things go tits up again.

Exactly this, and I think it will come on Saturday, unless there is a very good display from the team.

At Swansea it felt like the majority of the fans there had turned against AP. We were "South London's Red n Blue Army" - no mention of Alan Pardew in that song.

Despite being an objective, pragmatic businessman, Parish is also a fan and so cannot fail to be influenced by the atmosphere of the crowd, whichever part of the ground the feeling originates from.

Silence from the HF at a previous Southampton game was very powerful.

Pardew made a big effort to court the HF when he became manager: going to their pub, being very complimentary about them and generally trying to get them onside, knowing they have influence within the fanbase and the club itself. He's been rewarded with their unswerving loyalty throughout last season's terrible run and, so it seems, this season's slump too.

Ian Holloway's stint in charge became untenable when the fans turned on him after the Fulham game. The HF were central to that change of mood in the fanbase and Holloway's subsequent decision to quit.

This leads me to wonder: are the HF still behind Pardew and is this partly why he's still in the job? Are they crucial to his chances of staying in the post and, should they turn on him, will that be the moment his position is no longer tenable, as was the case with Holloway?

I believe the longer the HF stay loyal to AP the harder it is for the club to sack him; they won't want to risk alienating such an important section of the fanbase. If results don't pick up and the HF remain loyal to AP, will Parish have the balls to go against their wishes and sack Pardew anyway?

Interested in others' views on this.

What a load of tosh.He went for a drink with Keith when we were riding high last Christmas.Seth you should be in drama.!!
