Cabayes absence was a blessing in disguise today. Protect the back four first and foremost ...especially one as fragile as ours. Ledley and Jimmy Mac were outstanding and so what if sometimes the outball aint that stylish... it works. Lets not try and run until we can walk ... or jog comfortably.
Glad all over and under.

Yes Damo fantastic today, marshaling the defence, talking to players, out grappling Van Dyke, real leader today and MOM IMO. Looks a bit old for that haircut though!

Before kick off I thought Dann & Delaney at CB and Tomkins at LB was an interesting call. It worked. Lets keep it at Hull. Why change a winning formula?

Keep the same team next week - with one change. Puncheon out on left, Townsend bench and Cabaye in. Just an opinion - think the French maestro will raise his game after watching his team-mates outfight Soton.

Damo marshalled the team, and we have missed his leadership during his absence.

What also impressed me too, was Flamini came on and picked up the mantra.

Been my favourite player ever since blubbing at Wembley, closely followed by Jedinak before his exit. Love the man. Need his no nonsense approach.

Tomkins was at right back.

I think what was noticeable was how we basically went back in time two years. We sat very, very deep and just let Southampton have the ball in front of us. That allowed Ledley to sit and not worry about his lack of mobility. Also meant Tomkins wasn't too exposed and Wilf gave him excellent protection.

Cabaye wasn't missed defensively but before we scored we were still struggling to do anything with the ball. I wouldn't change it at Hull (maybe Sako for Townsend), but Yohan still has a big role to play for us.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

I'm only going to repeat what everyone else has said but Damo was immense yesterday. A real leader and an inspiration.

Actually he'd make a damn good subject for a statue outside Selhurst.

Many on here been calling for Damo's return for weeks.
Pity it taken close proximity of his P45 for AP to agree! Certainly made a big difference yesterday..

Until last week I wasn't desperate for Damo to get back into the team, but felt against Swansea he would've been an asset and he proved himself yesterday. As much as I rate Dann, Damo seems a better option for captain. I also think the pairing of Dann and Damo at CB is a good one as they bring very different things to the table whereas I think Dann and Tomkins are a bit too similar. People always talk about having two centre mids or two strikers that are too similar, but I think it can be true at CB. He won't last forever, but Damo deserves his start.
