It's not necessarily Ledley it's the need for a holding midfielder and the defence pushing up. I like Ledley a lot but he is not the player to use when you are playing out from the back.
MacArthur has been great and benefits from a more defensively minded midfielder with him. Therefore it is a good combination.

Well if as you say,and I take your word, that he is our most technically gifted player it would be nice to see it.

I can only remember a good cross for Bolasie last season that he headed in against West Brom.

Anyhow sometimes it takes a while to settle in.

Let's hope he improves.COYP.

Amen to that .

No one denies he was a great player,
it would be fantastic for Palace if he became the player we saw play against us for Newcastle.

i love ledders to bits but hes no cabaye. nowhere near as good.

shouldnt we be talking about a decent defensive display rather than digging out our most technically gifted player?

And what evidence (other than the hype) are you basing that on. because from what I have seen of his performances in a Palace Shirt, both Ledly and McArthur have so far done loads more than he ever does.

Add to that that Puncheon plays out of his skin when Cabaye isn't on the pitch and you have a player that whilst may be technically adept, he is getting on in football terms, is injury prone, rarely finishes 90 mins, has a shocking goal return, and for someone who came with a reputation as a dead ball specialist has been a bit of a let down.

And in the last Wales game (vs Serbia) Joe Ledley took corners and some free kicks with his deadly left foot. Says a lot about his quality - just play him!!!!

Quite right , he's got a fantastic left foot, but we haven't seen it here. He use to play left wing for Cardiff and he put in some very deadly crosses. Quite surprised he's ended up as a holding midfielder.

Hope it's soon Bill. Maybe the frequent trips on the cross channel ferry are taking their toll on him?

A stockbroker urged me to buy a stock that would triple its value every year. I told him, at my age, I don't even buy green bananas!

I didn't think that those booze cruises were that profitable any more to make it worth his while?

The intention of this thread isn't to dig out our most technically gifted player. It's to highlight that defensively, our confidence is shot unless we play two defensive minded midfielders in front of them.

I think Cabaye is a fantastic player, we just don't seem to have found a system to get the best out of him yet.

You miss the point. A better footballer? Yes probably (depends on someones criteria but certainly more skillful) but it's about the right fit.

Cabaye has felt like a square peg in a round hole for much of his time here, he has had some very good games for us but not enough.

Ledley is more of a facilitator, when played in the same way as he is for Wales, he is excellent, when played out on the left or some of the other positions not so much.

the dignified don't even enter in the game
