Probably someone that came with the refugees but not an actual refugee themselves or homegrown which seems to be the far more common type of terrorist on euro soil these days.

The above scenario is why so many people felt uncomfortable with the open door policy proposed for 'Syrian refugees' but were labelled 'racist' for pointing out that this sort of thing could happen.

I think its more an 'acceptable collateral of having a war on terror'. That there will be some 'terror attacks'. Blaming it on immigration is fairly tangential, given the per capita number of attacks by migrants, compared to the migration level etc and then compensating for crimes committed by nationals.

Of course we do need to be careful about who we do admit - that makes sense, and to monitor and collate information about them.

But realistically, the police did nothing to prevent the NSU terrorism in Germany, and they can do nothing much to prevent Islamic terrorism in Germany.

Its just that some people want to turn it into an issue which is about agendas, rather than factual information.

The fact is that these attacks were carried out by immigrants that our governments have allowed to come to Europe in huge numbers while at the same time waging war in their regions. No amount of intellectual wriggling can alter that fact.
As far as a war on terror is concerned. It is futile to assign blame on anyone for starting the process. At what point in history do you begin? WW1? WW2? The Crusades? The simple reality is that at some point you have to choose a side or hide from the conflict. The latter is becoming increasingly difficult.

The only agenda most people have is self preservation and the safety of those they care about.

The blame for yesterday solely lies with the murderer and not with desperate refugees nor those who wanted to help them.

Terrorism in Europe is not new. It won't go away if borders are shut.

And as I said - most terrorists are homegrown anyway. This fella might have been too. We don't know yet.

Interesting you didn't distance yourself from the proxy dictators. What sort of global regime do you have in place Hrolf?

You statement is a contradiction. How can the people be held responsible for a "dictatorship"?

Terrorist attack or not, the fact the driver was an asylum seeker from pakistan or Afghanistan will be enough for the s*** to hit the fan and inspire more resentment the German public have against Angela Merkel's open invitation for refugees and asylum seekers to come to Germany.

I'm sure New Year's Eve will be interesting in Germany, especially after this attack, sorry, accident, and last year's industrial scale molestation of young German ladies by newly arrived refugees!

Ironically the suspect arrived in Germany from pakistan, on last new year's eve.

Optimistic as ever

But doesn't your logic also prove the contradiction of allowing hundreds of thousands to drown in the sea, because of the acts of a handful of nutters? Except in our case, we have voted for the governments who prop up these nutters, and pay tax which goes in to building bombs, aircraft missiles and the like which we then sell off to Saudi, Syria, Israel etc. It doesn't make us responsible, but we are in a position to change things, and for the sake of those fleeing war and famine, we really should be brave enough to do the right thing.

Not that again.

Just because the son of an immigrant drives the lorry rather than his father does not nullify the argument against mass immigration of alien cultures. It actually reinforces it. Its not just the immigrants we have to scrutinise, it is also their children. We have created a generational threat.

To argue that 99% of immigrants are law abiding so we accept the 1% who are murders really will be of little consolation to the victims families.
I suspect this kind of left wing pragmatism would evaporate if they had some of their own loved ones killed by terrorists.

Government do all sorts of things in the name of the people which many of the people disapprove of. That is a fact of life.

But what is the "right thing"?

Most normal people hate to see others suffer. They will help if they reasonably can.
But what if by helping they potentially jeopardise the future of their loved ones?

Michael, any sane person could see that opening up Europes borders to 'refugees' could result in battle hardened jihadists, bent on causing mayhem, arriving in the West.

Your bleeding heart crap does not detract from this. Chickens will come back to roost. Well done.

Probably not the one which ends up killing people.

And the side you choose is the one that points at innocent people and cries witch.

I'm a strong believer in not punishing innocent people for vague associations to the guilty made by groups with their own agenda. The price of a free and democratic society, is that some people will always f**k you over. You just have to deal with those individual cases.

Immigration is certainly out of control, but its the weak argument to say 'well because this person has links to overseas' then all immigration is to blame. Its not. We need control over immigration and to regulate it (because we aren't geographically constrained in the same way Europe is). As far as Europe goes, Freedom of movement is a necessity (and most countries have their own history of empire to thank for their migration 'woes').

Its also not an entirely one sided story either, as in Belgium, France and Germany the idea that migration is 'accepted and free' is a myth. In truth most migrants are second class citizens, scapegoats and experience high levels of alienation (and violence from nationalists). This in turn creates growing resentment that's exploited by small groups on either side, to pursue their prejudiced agendas which are about power and result in further exploitation and alienation.

Self preservation, well if that's your agenda you really shouldn't worry about terrorism, because its an incredibly tiny risk to life.
