Looking for a bit of advice before I book my travel for the West Ham game.

We have 2 options for travelling from Glasgow on the day. First option is flying to Gatwick, with the return flight being 19:35. The second option is the train from Euston at 18:30.

Does anyone have any idea on what option is the better of the 2 for making sure we get home?! The other option is staying overnight but ideally looking to do the trip in a day if possible.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

I dont like flying so easy one for me....by train to Gatwick from West Ham takes about 90mins and to Euston 30mins without any delays. Plane would be far quicker to get home if theres not much in it moeny wise go for the plane option.

Any way you could get a flight to London City? You could practically walk from there (slight exaggeration but it's very close - I can see both the ground and the airport from my office window)

Takes absolutely ages to get out of the ground by all accounts.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Looked at the option of City but no flights to Glasgow in the evening or that would've been the logical choice.

My concern is the delay getting out of the ground, especially given the reports from other clubs. Not wanting to take the risk of the half 6 train and away fans are kept back meaning we miss the train. Similarly, not wanting to book a flight if it means not getting to Gatwick until the last minute and missing the flight!

Travel info says "The quickest way to get to the stadium is to walk from Stratford Station"

You can get the DLR direct to Stratford from London City airport (only about 15 minutes) so like npn says it would be simple. But if there are no flights have you looked at Stanstead?

Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season?

I would go for the Euton option, Gatwick is right out there and Southern trains at the moment are a total mess. Though you have other options I am pretty sure you will be quicker at Euston then Gatwick.

went in with Citeh to see wham dispatched in the cup.

queues for transport at Straftford were horrendous after, even one hour after final whistle!

went for a pint and didn't bother with tube until 2 hours after the match

you'd probably be better off walking to Mile End or Homerton (for overground to Highbury & Islington + tube to Euston then)

It's only 8 minutes from Homerton to H&I, then about the same on the tube to Euston.

Walk via Hackney Wick to see the queues there. If not bad, jump on there.

Hackney Wick/Homerton to H&I runs every 10 minutes. If you could get to Homerton and on a train by 5:45pm, you'd be more than fine for your train.

Don't rely on this information!, but I guess the main queues are for Stratford station (well, that's what I saw cos that's the direction I went)... you might check the spammers website, see if they find Homerton/Hackney Wick a good option...

I would take the train to Euston, have a beer opposite, and then walk to St Pancras from where I would get the high speed link to Stratford. I think it's about 7 mins to Stratford.
