If that's true then why couldn't Pardew over the past 12 months? Maybe not quite as good as you or he believes he is?

Ironic his comments about Warnock now, we barely won since he made them.

..so, do you think we need a huge upheaval to bring about a defence capable of surviving this league?

It appears that Mr Pardew himself could not believe that his defence could possibly keep on behaving and receiving such crap game after game, I feel that a confident Dann and a confident Kenny with a confident keeper (I have not mentioned a name) is all that needs to be achieved.

After the failed supposed defensive training pre-Swansea 5-4 debacle and the pre-Southampton Thursday defensive training criticised by players in private before demanding they take it themselves on Friday I suppose you must be spot on. It's a joke having no manager. What on earth is Parish doing knowing about all of this?

It would have been a risk retaining AP, but it's a far bigger risk replacing him.

I felt that Pardew's fortunes were in the turn and was confident of a win at Watford and maybe a point v Arsenal.

Sadly, some of his signings - notably Andros Townsend - haven't worked out. The long-term loss of Souare and Wickham has also been a bitter blow

In retrospect, maybe he was in too much of a hurry to forge a new identity for the team which led to the premature departure of Murray, Gayle, Jedinak and Bolasie - all of whom still had plenty to offer.

I am not optimistic - I fear a period of turmoil.

But we didn't need a manager according to your regular posts as was all the players fault!

..so in training Pardew shows them how to boot the ball into their own face while making sure the ricochet hits someone else on the arse so the ball falls nicely at the feet of the enemy to score, then he shows our keeper how to not take command of his penalty box and how to not communicate with outfield defenders while at the same time he shows expertly how to dive over the ball during a save and how to clear a back pass straight to the enemy .....then he very stupidly told one defender how to tackle in a way that would appear just like a brilliant dirty foul to really convince the ref into giving a penalty that would later be seen on TV as one of the greatest ferking dives of all time! I could go on for hours doing this very very easily.........how about the time a midfield player who was standing on a post during a corner and who somehow managed to kick the ball against his own leg twice and then mis*** it again two feet forwards towards the onrushing enemy who had much fun pushing it three feet into our goal! ..what was Pardew doing showing them how to do that! ....Pardew was awful in training and thank god he has been sacked.

Pardew cannot whip them into shape. This has been proven over a long enough period of time. That is why this has happened. You know it.

And he does not value prem points enough which now must've angered the owners.

..nothing has been proven, the season has a long way to go and we were well placed for a battle with an improving defence.

He has gone now so this means nothing, we will have to wait and see who arrives, hopefully someone not yet mentioned.

2 other managers who had a real affinity for the club but just weren't good enough. Gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling having a manager who loves the club but it isn't the real world. Fat Sam is looking for a life raft to save his career. Under any other circumstances think he'd see us as beneath him and no doubt if he gets a chance to jump to a bigger ship he will ASAP. Never liked him but he's probably the plug we need right now. Hope he grows on me the way Warnock did. Good luck Alan and thanks for your efforts. Will miss the ego and the dancing.

I'd give up mate. Some people have never played the game and think if a sub comes on he has to directly replace the man going off! Some people haven't got the capacity to realise the team had already been reconfigured to allow this to happen without weakening the team. And yes, it was just sh*t luck that we let that goal in. I guess it would have been a different scenario had Campbell scored or there were no further goals. Still, a bit of a rocky road ahead. Probably three weeks until the new man gets a grip of things, and by then it could be too late. Can you imagine if we win at Watford what people will say about how the team has improved without Pardew. Laughable.

I'd take that over the 12 months Pardew had to sort things and failed miserably.
