Despite the appalling 2016 league stats and and, cup run excluded, a miserable 12 months of supporting Palace, I thought AP was going to turn things round and I hoped he was going to stay. It didn't look to me like he'd "lost the dressing room", we may have been outplayed by Chelsea but we weren't outfought. I thought that, the quality of our top picks and some judicious transfers in January would sort us out.

I recognise that is a minority view, but I also appreciate that something had to happen to get us out of this poor run of results.

At the end of the West Ham Match. Mid October. Absolutely clueless. Remember the Benteke pen miss and the usual failure to take advantage against ten men?
I felt Pards had lost the dressing room; I know others disagree, but how do generally good players become generally bad players?
One other thing: I've been watching Palace since 68/69 and I think this team has less footballing intelligence than any other I've seen. They need a Sergeant Major!

Swansea Away. That's when I completely lost faith in Pardew.I just couldn't make sense of why we had capitulated the way we did!(I still don't)

Recall being on the train back and while at Cardiff,Rugby fans got onto the same carriage and promptly inquired what our final score had been.I replied " 3-4" and that we had lost-took me a few seconds to realise my error...I think I was still in denial and my little brain hadn't comprehended the 5-4 final score

Swansea appointed a guy with zero PL or English league experience. If we get BFS (as I hope we do), we'll have one of the most experienced gaffers in the league, with the 2nd best PL win rate of any English manager.

Can you see the difference?

End of last season, not right after the FA cup final but definitely in the summer.

I'd have got rid last season, but the cup run kept him safe. Swansea was the final final straw but it's been obvious for months a change was needed.

I agree, and whilst this may be a minority view on these forums I don't think it is with the greater overall fanbase.
I have always respected the work and endeavour of Parish and co to do the right thing to progress the club. And giving Pardew beyond the January window to turn it round would have been too dangerous.
It is easy with hindsight to say he should have gone earlier but for me xmas was the right time.

When he got the hump when I asked him why Wickham was taking the throw ins. And never forgave him for Murray. Also I was totally wrong about Jedi. Huge gap. His passing often wasn't great and he could be well off the pace but you often only miss people when they are not there. Picking McCarthy in the Liverpool game. Cabaye is better than you which is why he earns more than you - hmmm. And so on. Feel sorry for him though. You could see he was hurting towards the end.

I wanted him gone before the FA Cup final, he definitely should have gone after it.
