I think Allardyce will be f***ing excellent, actually. Will make us organised and disciplined again, make everyone do their jobs so that the forwards can go forward again and knows what we need in terms of players. And won't conduct dangerous experiments and repeat the same bollocks-ups every week. The threat of a bollocking from him will be very effective, I suspect Pardew was more like Sgt Wilson. "Ai seah, would you mind terribly hoofing it cleah?"

One day we may be in a position to move on to this "expansive" football but Pardew was deluding himself into thinking we were there now and that he was the great God who was delivering it. When we went to Swansea having "prioritised the defence in training" he had us looking like a real basket-case.

Fergie's Pet Hippo is:

- a backward step (as effectively acknowledged by Steve Parish). He won't try and retain possession and he won't have us transitioning towards the sort of football that will establish us as a regular bigger club. I am not saying Pardew has succeeded in doing this, but that was the stated aim of both him and the club. We're moving backwards

- dodgy. Not just the England stuff. Him and his dodgy agent mate Curtis have been pressuring his players to sign with them for about 20 years. Pardew wasn't whiter-than-white. But he wasn't corrupt. FPH is corrupt, and I don't want that associated with my club

- has little interest in youth and no regard for local community.

- is unlikeable, which while not a prime requisite skill, seems to be part of the reason people were happy to turn on Pardew. The arrogance and the style are going to make us as a club less likeable and less bankable for the American owners.

He will keep us up. I'm not denying that. And I'm not denying Pardew's time was up. He should have gone after Swansea/Hull.

But Fat Sam isn't the long term solution that the club needs. He is a short term fix for this season (which might be needed) but he won't move the club forward.

I should say I'll back him and cheer. And we'll stop conceding silly goals and set pieces hopefully. Which will make a massive difference.

He is actually coming in onto something of a winner potentially. If he can establish a bit more solidity then the underlying numbers for the club (chance creation, chances conceded, etc) are pretty good.

That and his unlikeable gruff northern demeanour coupled with the rather dull style of football played by his teams.

Because he's as bent as they come, there isn't a financial football scandal in which he's named or involved. But more importantly, he has the face that essentially sums up Birmingham, like a miserable, lost typical big jewelled, Northerner, taking a very difficult s**t, in the rain.

The man seems like an odious c**t as well. But he is a very good football manager. Which is what counts.

My Bolton supporting mate thinks he is much under rated and a very good manager. As he knows much more about him than I do he generally wins our arguments over him, but I cannot get over the fact that the finger of corruption has been pointed at him so often that it makes me feel very uncomfortable. Parish doesn't not tolerate being ripped off so I just hope that, if he does come, he keeps himself clean at all times or we could end up with another Dowie or Pulis public washing of dirty linen. He is not someone I would want to share a beer with, unlike Alan Pardew who, despite whatever faults he may, or may not, have, is part of the Palace family.
