I'm absolutely over the moon with his appointment. I think we're going to go into great things under Sam.

Iirc, a lot of you guys loved Pulis. Sam is quite similar in style, and actually more attacking than Pulis teams, so it just seems weird that people are against him based on that. Pardew was hardly some attacking genius, the games were exciting because he had you defending worse than the French, and being penetrated more times than a whore on a duty.

Really doesn't get it either, we are all Palace supporters and though we may not have all supported Pardew, there are/were others than BFS!

He will keep us up, of that I have no doubt, but just a wrong appointment in my(and some others) opinion!

He is THE most guaranteed to keep us up. The whole country doesn't disagree with this.

When the managerial influence/effect on players runs out (as it did with Pardew) or Parish starts to upset SA, because SA's targets don't offer skills that most future managers might prefer then we might split. Within 18 months they will have to see eye to eye and extend terms or when it comes to May 2018 not many players will sing for a manager with 12 months left at CFPC. So don't worry about it too much. We're well managed.

And I don't mind you calling me a bellend. As offending coming from Jay on the inbetweeners.

I get that feeling as well. For this season, possibly next. Beyond that, who can tell. It would be really something if we went on a cup run as well as decent league form with the manager bounce.

Who knows after 18 months. A lot of manager suffer after a while.

I think he's going to benefit from a clear head, just him watching all our 16/17 games alone. No pressure to change style etc. Just what he sees is what it is. I like hearing the comments so far. The proof is yet to be seen but I am definitely more positive than with Pardew, who all he had to do was alter a little, if his ego allowed.

Reading thro this thread, I get the ompression that most of the fans are resigned to finishing in the lower half of the table, and more than satisfied with staying in the Premiur League.

OK, that's fine BUT, aspiration, ambition and improving the whole team. Not just for one season but to build and motivate players and fans alike for greater things.

A management team that will build, for the future, for better performances and attracting the better player.

Raise the hopes and aspirations of everyone. Then...

being a cynical .. person,,, I suspect Pardew was more attracted to the pay off clause than the team performance. But... Pay for results, bonus figure for wins, a flexible salary linked to performance, monthly targets, and a panel within the management team to fully appraise players and performance.

Alas, we can but dream....

I haven't actually offended you btw (some seem quite delicate following the inevitable Pardew goodbye)

Who is the bellend you're referring to? Not that it's going to affect my sleep but it'd be good to know. Seemed like it was me, but you don't hit the quote button. Best to do that if it's directly to someone so they know.

The way the season has started & the results & injuries to key players survival has to be the only aim I think as a short term view.

How many managers in the last ten years have been "fit for purpose"?

We lurch from dilemma to disaster time and again and, for what ever reason, senior management must responsibility.

Friendship plays a greater part than critical appraisel. Five tears from now, Lower half, mid table, top ten, still in the premier League????

Start building now,

LOL

AsConfucius say, the journey of a thousand miles starts with one small step.
