Most of our managers have done the business for long enough to see the near term objectives through. After that it can generally go wrong. I think that's a general trend in football these days. Players tend to tail off performing for the manager.

As for 'the one', it's a managerial job not a romance and lifelong marriage. Be very successful and they're likely take a bigger job anyway. Look at Southampton. Constantly finding gems everywhere and they move on. Players and managers. But they're always looking for the replacements in 2 years from the newcomer starting.

My guess is Sam will do alright for 18 months and possibly either he gets poached, we want him to leave or signing players becomes difficult with only 1 year left on his contract. Maybe it'll be longer but I wouldn't count on it and who cares anyway? If the board start thinking ahead of these things it's less of a problem. When he goes maybe Gary Monk or Rowett will be safer for us then, or even a young foreign coach if we've done any homework by then.

Good post.

The funny thing is, AP would win a few games and talk about managing top 4 / England. Same as Zaha, has some decent games and people on here saying he's too good for us, it's a load of b*llocks.
Moyes was a good fit for Everton, Koeman was right for Southampton etc.
Do well, appreciate the chairman/fans/club and that's it. 6 months ago Alladyce was the main man, managing England, then he's in employable, now he's here.
He 'is the one', for now.

Sorry to hear that but it looks like you're in the very small minority. Perhaps a few good results might change your mind .

Nothing will change my mind I can't stand the C*nt & even if we won the Fa cup with him I'll never be singing he's name.
Minority? I'd say theres loads of haters of BFS probably a 50-50 amongst my Palace mates

Indeed. But without the abuse. Don't want him, but will back what we have. Palace is all that matters. I hope he goes sooner than the FA investigation.

Nah, slate him now before a ball is kicked, say how sh1t he'll be and how sh1t the football will be, how he'll rip the team apart even though he's said the squad is good but needs some additions, whereas Pardew never tore the actual guts out of the side did he, and super al was surely about to turn it round after 6 wins in a whole year and beyond criticism.

The irony is quite something. Doing exactly what we were criticised for after months and months of repeated lack of respect for the league and now this manager gets the same, almost hoping it goes wrong before 1 match. Good thing this doesn't happen at matches.

Oh, and you did so well with your earlier reasoned post. Then I looked down a few posts and your are straight on the attack against Pardew again! Like you told us who were sad to see Pardew go, Give it up! He's not here anymore. Now let's just see what type of football Sam plays and get behind him. Who knows, 18 months down the line, we may be spitting venom in his direction. I hope not though, and we have got in to Europe by then. Finished higher than 10th. And maybe another cup final appearance. Now that would be progress.

Rudi will spit venom whatever. All it takes is for someone to disagree with him. I tire of it. He is not alone, which makes him feel powerful. I decline to respond most of the time. He will resort to insults if you disprove what he thinks. The boy needs to grow up.

It seems that nothing ever changes amongst the entitlement that so many Palace fans seem to feel.

Loads didn't want Pardew after all what has he achieved and he was of dubious moral character. Pulis, nah we don't want him as he plays boring hoofball. Warnock, nah he is a traitorous son of a bitch who walked out on us in our darkest hour and so on and so on and so on.

Is there no end to the delusions suffered by so many of the HOL keyboard warriors?

It's only opinions to be honest so don't take it too harsh. Without them the board would be dull. We are all Palace fans at heart and want the same for the club. Now, all you boys together raise a glass to the greatest football team at xmas time.

No there's not - Pardew would have saved us, you know!!

You also forgot to mention our 'style of football' and him not playing the Palace way. (I have no idea what that is but after some of our managers over the last 45 years I've been watching, I reckon he'll play exactly the sort of stuff I'm used to)!!!

I just picked your post at random to quote and wasn't actually aiming my comments specifically at you but you must admit that the venom being spewed out by so many is a bit OTT as we are, after all a football club and not an operatic society

Should have a look over your condescending posts at people over the last few months during losses every single flaming week, and claiming you're right and everyone is very wrong. Either your memory isn't what it used to be or you're used to being a hypocrite, double standards.
