NOT "Name dropping" just mentioning this to give a certain credence to my viewpoints. It only gives credence to your viewpoints if we believe that you talk to some senior referees. Anyway I too talk to some senior refs and they all tell me Clattenberg is a massive c***. How's about that then?

'Senior referees' like all of us are entitled to their opinion and I note your comments infer that they are talking about him as a person rather than him as an outstanding referee.As I say, they are entitled to their opinion.

Well I and all Palace fans except for you, were both gutted and livid.

Clearly if I was an "Attention seeker" a "Troll" and all that hogwash I would be delighted to re-open this debate as it would run ad infinitum but alas it has all become rather hackneyed and would only descend into a WILLO thread.

Ignore Willo, his view on referees are well documented. Here's the reason why Clattenburg is a rubbish referee in his own words: "I wanted the games to be a spectacle," Clattenburg said A referee's job is to make sure the rules are enforced. They should not have an influence on the game in any other way.

I can see exactly where he is coming from.You hear people say that they hardly noticed the referee and that is a good referee - this is probably a referee who doesn't blow up for every minor foul and let's the game flow.Game and man management allied to enforcement of the laws.

Terrible referee incompetent & inconsistent everytime I've seen him ref. I've seen better standards of refereeing in local amateur Sunday football games. I wouldn't necessarily say he's incompetent on purpose it isn't done with practice just natural. Incompetent could be harsh he's very competent with being inconsistent. Wasn't surprised when he reffed man u vs Burnley at OT & there didn't get anything redemption in his tiny cranium. Edited by lancseagle (30 Dec 2016 4.10pm)
