Obama struck me as weak. That feeling was compounded when he threateningly warned Syria that using chemical weapons in their civil war would "cross a red line". Chemical weapons were used, and Obama did nothing. I'm still trying to work out how he managed to win the Nobel Prize For Peace so soon into his stint as President. I'm guessing they were scraping the bottom of the barrel, just like the time they decided to award one to the EU.

In a large part hampered by a republican control of the senate. I think some of what he tried to introduce in terms of gun control and health care were impressive, but largely doomed to being shot down without a Democrat control of Congress.

The US has a massive problem with disparity in police training, funding, pay, discipline and control from state to state, and even within different counties within states. Add to that the pressure placed on 'policing to achieve targets' set by political candidates, and concepts such as zero tolerance and aggressive policing strategies from the war on drugs, the US has effectively created a conflict of interest between people in poor and low income areas, and the police who are pursuing agendas largely set to apeeal to voters from wealthier and upper working class areas

But I would agree with the stance in the above. The policy on Russia and Israel could have been reversed at any point during the last 8 years. Why wait until the last month of your administration?

The main problems have come from the town and county police who are typically the least well trained and paid.

On my travels around the US, I saw all those you mentioned above, and State Troopers, Sheriffs, Metropolitan Police, University Police and others. Unlike the UK where police uniforms and vehicle liveries are virtually identical all over the country, each US police department wear different uniforms and their vehicle liveries differed greatly.
