I don't imagine there were any discussion with Kelly or Ward about playing as a LB when they joined. We have the thinnest of squads due to injury and lack of recruitment and we need team players who are prepared to be flexible for the greater good.

Townsend is left-footed and is more than capable of providing a decent supply from that wing as well as having some shots. He wants to play on the right so that he can keep cutting in and having a shot himself, which is strangling the supply to the lone striker and Zaha is just as bad on the left. At the moment we have the worst of both worlds, but let's see how Townsend gets on when Zaha is at AFCON and how someone other than Zaha does the left.

But can you hand on heart say you could see Townsend being a quality left winger? Cos I can't but the player who played on the rigjt for Newcastle looked a real threat.

I dunno. It does seem an error to have signed him to compete with arguably our best player.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

He will get his chance after Swansea to make the right wing his lets hope he does. So far after a decent start he has been poor his defending is shocking gets wrong side every time, with him Lee and Kelly in our team we will get murdered by any half decent attack. SA has a massive job getting this team to defend well while still being a threat up front.

i love Wilf as much as anybody but unfortunately he never plays well against the big clubs so any would be buyer may well be put off. The two clubs mentioned Liverpool and Spurs, one has a right winger which he wouldn't displace (Mane) and the other plays without wingers so can't see it happening

Wilf going to AFCON leads me to believe he doesn't think he will be here next season so it matters not to him, professionally not personally, whether we are Prem or Championship.

If it did matter I can't see him catching the plane.

You're not allowed to reject the call up, to be fair to him.

Wilf should be on the right, he gets kicked all over the place with zero protection from bent refs and t***s want to dig him out for not smiling. He has every right to be hassling the incompetent/bent prem refs and with him currently being called a diver for being fouled at Watford, it appears to be getting to him.
Obviously it will help him immensely when he gets wind that Palace fans are also calling him a diver on social media. All wingers look for fouls and don't try too hard to stay upright, mainly cos if you don't fall over you get f*** all. Come to think of it fullbacks, midfielders, centre forwards, holding midfielders, attacking midfielders and even goalkeepers also look for fouls and go down easily, yet only Wilf gets grief for it. Why the agenda against him?

Thanks to people like Mr Clattenburg Wilf gets kicked all over the shop and I don't blame him for "throwing a strop"sometimes.
I don't believe he dives, more often than not when he is fouled the culprit gets away with it.
There are plenty of players at top clubs who actually do dive and when they do pundits tell us they are being clever.

And there was I thinking that the officials communicated with each other. Perhaps the linesmen could alert referees to lumps being kicked out of Palace players. The possibility of one of our players being tackled, being injured and receiving a red card for diving is a constant worry.

From what we have, Puncheon seems the most obvious, then Lee or Sako and maybe Fryers. I can't be held responsible for Pardew's failure to sign a left-winger can I?

He must have known that he would be called up when he agreed to swap nationalities a couple of months ago so he could have made it conditional on not being called up for AFCON if he so wished.

There are rumours in the Midlands that Birmingham are about to make a £4m offer for Sako, which hopefully are correct
