I can't usually get to evening games because of work, but I intend to get somebody to cover me and get to Victoria and onto a train to selhurst Tuesday night, but what's the situation with the strike etc, is it still going on, or am I going to have probs??

Not supposed to be a strike tomorrow but still lots of people taking extra sickies and the trains will be all over the place as a result of today's strike.

May be best to go to East Croydon and then back up on whatever comes first, Selhurst or Norwood Junction.

National Rail Enquiries this morning said there were delays due to Industrial Action. So if there aren't strikes today then somebody is using it as an ongoing excuse for a poor rail service.

Certainly wouldn't put it past them, but the fact there are staff in a depot doing nothing doesn't necessarily make it factually incorrect. They can't, presumably, send those staff on a train to Uckfield (other terminating stations are available) if they are an hour and a half from knocking off and they are refusing to do overtime, or they'll end up in the middle of nowhere at the end of their shift. Not sure how that actually works, but I'm sure there are controls in place for that reason (also it would depend on what those staff are - a room full of conductors doesn't mean you have enough drivers and vice versa).

Not saying you're wrong, but neither side in this is covered in glory, and the commuters are the ones who are suffering, and both will play fast and loose with the truth to suit their own agendas.

We don't care we just want to get to work and have a half decent service.

The sooner both sides stop politicising the issue the quicker we (including the rail staff) can get back to a normal life.

Since some c*** stole my Vespa, I have been back on the train and Southern are a complete shambles. South West Trains seem to be fine, how come Southern get it so wrong?

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

This^ - although I'm still confused. They all claim the strike is about safety yet the railways are so unbelievably unsafe at the moment because of the sheer number of people trying to cram on trains due to the overtime ban. Does the cctv work better during a strike?

Possibly or, as it's an ASLEF post, more evidence that the lazy guards haven't bothered to show for work so the drivers are sitting doing nothing because they won't accept DOO so the trains can't move without a conductor? Get rid of them and these boys could be driving.

Time to sack a few guards me thinks as they are taking the p1ss out of all the good people trying to go about their daily lives and business. I feel sorry for all the people suffering because of these idiots stopping the train company from doing their job..

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.
